DxP REWRITE - Knowledge
In case you had any doubts, the mystery boy from Chapter 2 is Ingo’s inner child. Specifically, he’s the part holding onto his memories of Emmet (literally) ;u;

For the little kids whose brains couldn't handle so much pain so they blocked out the memories of their abuse: you are valid. What they did to you was real even if you can't feel it like that. You are a real victim who deserves real justice. I love you so much. My inbox is always open for everyone who needs it.
This is sadly Marinette/ladybug coded
“But he was just a child”
So was I
And I’m suffering and he’s not
I feel like people in trauma spaces online might be confusing dissociated memories for repressed memories. There was a post on a subreddit which basically asked for people's opinions on people saying repressed memories weren't real and OP mentioned experiencing dissociated memories. People in the comments were generally spreading misinformation (repressed memories aren't real claim is made by abusers, false memories claims are made by out rooted science or FMSF, etc). I can understand the confusion because the idea of repressed memories works similarly to dissociated memories at surface level. Based on the aspect of trauma influencing how your memory functions and such, minus the memory is frozen and hidden mechanism in your brain.
That's basically how the ritual abuse/alter programming proponents present it. If you have Symptoms, you must have trauma you can't remember. If you have trauma you can't remember, it must be stored in an alter. You have to Remember so you can Process It and Get Better. If you get worse, there must be more to Remember. And so on and so forth until your insurance money runs out or until you realize your therapist is just using you.
For anybody else reading this: religious abuse is real, human trafficking is real, and sexual abuse is real. What's demonstrably not real is the alleged practice of using torture to deliberately give people DID and creating customized alters to fill certain roles and perform certain tasks. I think the worst thing about having very vague/spotty memories because I was so young when it happened is feeling like I can’t ever fully accept that it DID happen. I will always second guess myself—even though the evidence is always with me (the body keeps the score, as they say). I will probably never tell anyone who knows him about it because what if I’m wrong?? What if I’m making up these flashes of “memory”, and seeing “signs” in my present self where there are none just because I want an easy answer that would explain the way that I am???
It would be such a horrible thing to accuse someone of if it wasn’t true. Especially family. Even just thinking it feels cruel and unfair to him sometimes. And there’s no way for me to get the truth unless he were to confess it to me himself.
I fantasize about that sometimes—I like to picture him apologizing to me at some kind of reunion, scared out of his mind that I’ll tell someone about it and ruin his life. Or even unapologetic, making jokes about it. At least then I would have confirmation. At least then I would have validation for the last twenty years of my life.
Anyway if anyone else feels like this, you’re not alone.
