I’m new to tumblr, so I’d like to introduce myself (sorry it’s a novel). I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life. I’ve been a huge fan of Taylor since I was 10 years old in 2006. This love only grew stronger when I went to the Fearless tour, and even more so when I went to Speak Now (throwback to 15 y.o. me and my bff Katie at the show). When Red came out, I was a junior in high school. All I wanted to do was fit in and be “popular”. I remember hearing IKYWT for the first time sitting in AP calculus, and I loved it (we also watched the goat parody - if you haven’t watched it, you need to). Everyone else started to talk about how much they hated her current album and they weren’t fans anymore, because her new music “sucked”. I started to hide my obsession with Taylor, and regrettably stopped listening to her music, because I didn’t want others to think I was lame because I still liked Taylor Swift. This was (obviously) extremely difficult and even heart breaking for me. I wish I could go back and tell myself that others opinions didn’t matter and I can like whatever and whoever I want to like. The only good thing that came out of high school was meeting the love of my life and now fiancé (our wedding color is purple because of my obsession with the Speak Now cover). The story doesn’t end here, or else I wouldn’t be staring a Taylor tumblr. 1989 came out when I was a freshman in college. I had finally gotten the fresh start I was craving for so long (no pun intended), and I found new friends that accepted me for myself. While my friends don’t love Taylor as much as I do, they accepted my endless ranting about how 1989 is the best album of all time and put up with listening to it on repeat every time I was in the car. I associate 1989 with finding myself again. Being college girl broke, I was so sad that I couldn’t get tickets to see the 1989 world tour, but I swore to myself that when Taylor’s next album came out, I was going to buy tickets, no matter what I had to do. Fast forward to my senior year (which was way too long to wait without new Taylor music). Single after single came out, and I couldn’t wait for Reputation (my fiancé probably thought I was crazy this entire period of time). I adore reputation so much. I can’t even name a top five, let alone a favorite song from Reputation, because they are all too good. I saw the Reputation Stadium Tour on May 25th, 2018, in Denver. I danced until my feet were numb, cried multiple times (my winged liner did not last), and got to hear Teardrops on my Guitar live again after hearing it live 8 years ago. The one thing I really missed out on was getting to meet and connect with other fans, which is why I’m here now. I won’t get to go to another Rep show (no matter how badly I want to go to the KC show on my 22nd birthday, we can’t squeeze it into the budget alongside wedding planning), but my goal is to connect with other Swifties before TS7. I want to meet hundreds of other people who love Taylor just as much as I do. She means so much to me and I want to learn why she means so much to others. And, @taylorswift , if you happen to see this, thank you for always being there for me, even when I was trying to push you away to be “cool”. Thank you for helping me be the real me, shamelessly and whole heartedly. And thank you for some damn good music and gracing us with the online presence of Meredith and Olivia.
