From the ArtTour YEG website: “A pupil of pre-eminent British abstract sculptor Anthony Caro, the University of Alberta warmly welcomed Peter Hide to the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1977. Hide became the senior sculpture instructor and influenced at least two generations of Edmonton artists. As a result, Edmonton has been one of the most active centres for abstract sculpture since the 1970s.” • Perched on the MacEwan University 105 Street Building Rooftop looking down at the “Odalisque” sculpture is “Over” by Australian artist Amanda Parer ( @parerstudio ) • This was part of “Fantastic Planet” • an illuminated large-scale public installation that ran from March 12 – April 10, 2021 Various Locations Around Downtown Edmonton, Alberta. Composed of Six giant inflatable structures, ranging from 12 metres tall when standing to 13 metres long when lying down. This event was part of Downtown Spark! 2016 Chilliwack Eagle Gate: Notice there is no visible gate mechanisms. The gate openers are carefully mounted to the bottom frame of the gate, so its completely hidden and doesn't take away from the design of the gate. Everything else is also hidden, inside those hallow concrete pillars or buried under ground.
