so I may be onto nothing here but after watching the s3 trailer smth bothered me
these are cxs's expressions towards lu guang upon just meeting him "for the first time" in bridon arc ep1 and the s3 trailer respectively
and I really don't know how to put it into words but the s3 trailer look is more... detached? than the bridon arc one?? It's like the polite yet completely disconnected look you give to a stranger talking to you, and bridon arc cxs did just knock this guy onto his ass with a basketball, but that smile kinda feels like it already holds familiarity? in a way? Not to mention, exactly 19 seconds after that smile, he turns around and throws the ball at the same time without looking like he knows lu guang stood up to chase him, and gives him this look and invites him to play basketball
look, nameless basketball buddy's expression is RIGHT THERE for reference, he is staring with the same polite, disinterested detachment that s3 trailer cxs has on his face, and here bridon arc cxs is with the bright lights in his eyes. the instant friendliness and familiarity.
and then he plays one (1) singular game with lu guang and tells him "you'll be my partner from now on, let's play again tomorrow, you have to come, I'll always be here waiting" and in ANOTHER flashback of an entirely different timeline in s1e3, the same thing happens: he plays one (1) game with lu guang, declared partnership, and when this lu guang acts nonchalant, he drops the "every time I pass the ball to you is a sign of my trust" and the "how precious it is or be with trustworthy partners in our life" speeches.
Please remember that in a non-time travelling timeline consideration, cxs is only supposed to have known lu guang for like. maybe an hour maximum. TRUST ME, as someone who has been randomly integrated into a casual basketball match with complete strangers, even if you play together for a whole hour straight, you do not feel the inclination to drop lines like that on someone. In fact, the tone in which all these lines are delivered have a feeling of familiarity that comes from knowing someone way longer than these two were supposed to have known each other at the time those lines were said. (also, this is dipping into speculation and headcanons, but i feel like cheng xiaoshi would not just bare his soul to people he's just met the way he's doing with lu guang here?? he would definitely be friendly, but he would not go into that very genuine, wistful tone that he used when he dropped the "trustworthy partners" line, i think. but this part is just my thoughts.)
all of this to say. you know that one theory about Cheng Xiaoshi also diving at the same time that lu guang is? or maybe even retaining memories from all of lu guang's dives through some weird power connection system thingy?? hmm
