More American fireman Sam they butchered Norman
everyone must go an watch the way on bbc right now!!
it's one of the best things i've seen in ages.
it's written and directed by welsh people. it's set and filmed largely in wales. it has a plethora of wonderful welsh actors and actresses. it's totally made by welsh people FOR welsh people.
i loved the pure welshness of it: the relations to the story of king arthur (orginally a welsh story); the feeling of hiraeth the whole time. i'm going to be thinking a lot about this mini-series for a very long time.
Do you know this (canon) bisexual character?

Yeah, I know her!
I've heard of her
I don't know her
Propaganda:
Series set in Wales???
Y’all I need more series set in Wales.
So far I’ve been thru:
Hinterland
Keeping Faith
The Accident
Hidden
Gavin and Stacey
Torchwood
And I need more. Bonus points if it’s bilingual. I do enjoy the gritty crime drama/mystery genre, but I’m open to other things (see Gavin & Stacey). Films are fine too.
Mostly, I just want to see all the lovely Welsh actors using their own accent/language and not being a one-off character in an English show, or having to do RP and pretend to be English *sigh*.
Keep in mind that I’m in the US, and my access is limited. I have Prime (plus Acorn!) and Hulu right now, but I’m willing to pause my Hulu and do some Netflix if there’s anything good.
I’ll also take recommendations for shows set in Scotland, since I did really enjoy Shetland.
Tom Mathias #2
Imagine...
Comforting Tom after the Alys Thomas case, death seemed to follow the man around these days. When Mari Davis jumped Tom coming straight to you for comfort. He didn't know what come over him in that moment but all he knew was that he needed you, he needed your comfort even if it was just being in your presence.

I finished Hinterland today.
Dudes.
Duuuudes.
Totally worth it.
Really wish I watched it in Welsh (because I don't have many Welsh language things that I love) but there was so much done bilingually in series 3 that I don't think I've missed out that much.
But if you get the chance? I would recommend this show whole heartedly. On the dvd the Welsh bits had subs (so I assume so would the Netflix one) so anyone can watch.
Content warning: The storyline that lasts the three seasons is to do with historic child abuse. We don't see anything but heads up. Also, people get murdered. Aberystwyth isn't as bad as Midsomer but its getting there in this show.
(And seeing places that I recognise is still my favourite bit of the show... And the whole Mathias/Rhys thing. I love it.)
