Inktober 2019 Day 22 - Welthund

If the land and farmers are well, the dog is raw-boned and thin. When plagues and diseases decend on the country, however, he is fat and well nourished.

Ink OCtober - Day 2

Ewiss the Welthund*, who enjoys tormenting the villagers of the place he and his pack rule over way more than necessary. First pic shows him at his weakest, while the second shows him as his regular healthy self.

He chose a village located by a mountainstream, which is also surounded by a treacherous marshland. Ewiss lets his packmates patrol the village, having them make sure the inhabitants only have enough to barely scrape by.

It is almost impossible to leave said village, since it is not only guarded by the pack, but also some gryphon mercenaries, paid with gold and the masses of food Ewiss has taken from the people. His kindneeds aminimum sustainance of consumable food, since they primarly thrive on the misery and negative feelings of other beings.

*The Welthund (or Bachpfattli) is a creature  from German folkore, also known as Bachpfattli. It is described as a skinny dog with an eyes on top of its head. Is the population of the land healthy it looks skinny and malnourished, but if the land is tormented with plague and poverty it thrives.

Not my proudest work to be honest, since I shamelessly reused the background  from the “night traveler” illustration. However this piece was made for the personal learning experience and an university project, so take it anyway. 

Took more hours than I first thought.
