For the valentines asks - 3 with nico x percy x will 😊
“No, you have fun with your date. Don’t let my being stood up stop you.”
Got an anon ask for this number & Nicercy, so I hope it's okay that I combine your ask and this into one.
Percy was not okay. The Olympian Aphrodite's Day - as the goddess called Valentine's Day - was nothing, if not impressive, but the whole festive pink decorations, the sight of his happy friends couldn't counter the fact that he was stood up.
He picked at his food dejectedly, moping around the heart-shaped buffet table, trying his best not to make eye contact with anyone. Not his friends, and definitely not the gods, or other immortal beings.
He could see a few minor deities, nymphs and satyrs eyeing him and giggling amongst themselves, practically daring each other to ask him out, while he was doing his best to ignore them.
He bit into a delicate-looking dessert and was pleased to taste the sweet-and-sour sensation of chocolate and raspberries. That combination was almost as good as his mother's blue chocolate chip cookies.
But even the delicious taste couldn't distract him enough from the fact that he was all alone in a couple's ball, organized by the Goddess of Love. He should leave, and could probably do it discreetly enough, as he was, thankfully not in the center of the attention - not counting the giggling nature spirits. His friends were all happily dancing with their partners, his father was in a heated debate with Hades over something, Aphrodite was surrounded by her gaggle of fawning worshippers, so it wasn't like any of them would either notice or miss him.
With a quick glance, he made sure that the pair he wanted to avoid the most, was not in his way, then abandoning his plate and the delicious finger foods, he stealthily made his way through the crowd.
Almost reaching the open door, the symbol of his freedom, a body appeared from the shadows - literally. He lost his balance when he couldn't avoid the collision in time, but instead of falling on his butt, he found himself pressed against two chests, one cradling him protectively from behind, the other pulling him close, holding him upwards.
He froze.
"Hi, guys," he squeaked, jumping out of the couple's embrace. Will raised an eyebrow, while Nico scowled.
"Hello, Percy," Nico drawled, and Percy felt his world zoom in on the three of them. Nico was right there, in front of him, and Will, behind him, while not embracing him anymore, they didn't move away either. He longed to go back being sandwiched between them, pressing close, so close he could reach up, and k...
No.
He couldn't do it.
"Uh, it was nice to meet you, guys, but I'll just... Leave you two to the party," he stammered, his brain short-circuited by their closeness.
"Why would you leave? I know that Rachel had a thing to do, and she couldn't come with you, but we would love to spend our time with you," Will asked, furrowing his eyebrows. Stay still, my heart, Percy prayed.
"Oh, no, I don't want you to miss out on anything fun, just because you spend your time with me," he waved their concern away, but it didn't seem like it worked.
"It's okay, we would love to be with you," Nico said, his underlying message flying over Percy's head. He just shook his head, mentally already leaving the Empire State Building.
“No, you have fun with your date," he smiled and backed away. "Don’t let my being stood up stop you." He stepped back once again, with a 'don't worry, I'm fine' grin fixed on his face, but before he could back out of the room, he found he couldn't move, as if something was blocking him. An invisible force was holding him in place, not letting him out.
He blinked stupidly, but looking at the other two, they had no idea what happened either. But he didn't have to look for any clue for long; a familiar giggling sounded from his left.
Of course, it was Aphrodite's fault!
"The room is enchanted, and won't let you leave just yet! This is the night for love, so until you kiss your love, you can't leave," she giggled, with a self-satisfied smirk dancing on her lips. Her words caused a bit of stir amongst the couples; some looked delighted about it, some, on the other hand, looked ready to strangle the goddess.
A wave of sudden icy anger froze Percy in his place. She had no right. His breath caught in his chest, he felt he could pass out at any time. He knew she could be cruel, and thoughtless about others because demigods were just little playthings for her, but locking a bunch of demigods in a ballroom, and not letting them leave until they kiss their love?
Was she completely out of her mind?!
What about asexuals? What about aromantics? What about couples who were not yet ready for their first kiss? What about couples who came just as friends? What about people who came here without a partner, because their partner had another responsibility?
What about people whose love was unrequited? Whose love was already in a relationship with their other love?
Percy took a deep breath. The ocean roared in his ears, the whispers of the crowd felt like the waves lapping at the shore. The glasses started to shake while trying to contain the viciously swirling drinks in them. He wanted to explore, he wanted to scream, wanted to kill Aphrodite, but one look at Nico-and-Will and all of the fight left him.
He couldn't screw up their night. It wasn't right.
After all of the heartaches, all of the internalized homophobia, they deserved to enjoy their date night.
He could just hide in a quiet corner until Aphrodite got bored with him not kissing anybody, and letting him leave.
He took a deep breath, deliberately avoiding looking at the Love Goddess. But now that the urge to kill left him, another emotion started to overwhelm him. He tried to fight back the tears by blinking furiously, but they just kept coming. He had to get away from the now gawking crowd, he humiliated himself badly enough already.
Knowing he'd seen a separated area where he could hide, he left with quick strides. As he left, he could still hear Aphrodite ordering everybody to continue enjoying themselves. Right, because they could enjoy themselves after a bomb like this...
But it wasn't his problem anymore.
He would just... Sit down here, arms around his knees, and try not to sob too loudly. Well, he didn't cry, per se, he just... Leaked from his eyes.
It was hard not to. It was one thing to see Will and Nico being happy and in love, and a completely different thing to be in this whole situation. He longed for a kiss from them, or even from only one of them, but not just to be able to leave the room. The idea of them kissing him without really wanting to do it, just to help him get out from Aphrodite's trap, was too painful. They would do it if he asked them to do it. They were nice like that. But after that? The thought of them pitying him, or worse, avoiding him was something he couldn't let happen.
He was so deep in his thoughts that he didn't realize somebody found him until they said hey to him. He didn't even have to turn to know who the voice belonged to.
"Can we sit down?" He went rigid. Not only Will was here, but Nico was also as well.
Fantastic.
But he couldn't say no, not when they went after him, so he nodded. Both of them settled next to him, sandwiching him between them.
"Listen..." Nico started. "We... Talked about something that might help you." He stopped. Percy had always thought that feeling your heart stopped was just a figurative speech. No, it was not. He could feel his heart stop beating, then rushing to catch up. He wasn't sure why he felt dread at his words, but his fight or flight instincts were screaming at him.
"Uhh... You did?" He asked hesitantly. He swallowed his budding panic, trying to act like everything was completely fine.
"We know that as Rachel is not here, you can't kiss the one you love to get out of here," Will continued.
Percy furrowed his brows, confused where they were going with this. Especially what Rachel had to do with it.
"What?"
"It's okay, everybody knows you two are in love. I think even my father is okay with her being in a relationship if it's with you," Will said, his tone suspiciously light. Percy was floored, because, once again, what?
"But we are not!" He denied it. He got two identical skeptical stares, so he just had to clarify. Even if it didn't mean he had more chance with them, the thought of them thinking that he was unavailable, didn't sit well with him. "No, we love each other, but it is definitely platonic. Even if I kissed her, the door wouldn't have let me out," he explained.
"That... Changes some things," Nico murmured, and it sounded like he was... Disappointed, maybe.
"What things?" Percy asked hesitantly. He wasn't sure he wanted to know, but curiosity killed the cat, right?
"We... Thought that it would help you if... Well. Aphrodite didn't specify that the love had to be reciprocated, right? So we thought that maybe if you were to kiss somebody, who was in love with you, you would be able to leave," Will explained, looking anywhere but Percy. "But if you are not in love with Rachel, maybe you could find the one you are in love with and take your chance with them. We thought we could help you, but it doesn't matter now."
The son of Poseidon slowly turned to face him. He could hardly believe what he was hearing. Was this really happening? Was Will really saying what Percy thought he heard? It didn't seem to make any sense, but the hope in his heart started to grow, even if he vehemently tried to squash it.
"What?" He repeated.
Now it was Nico's turn to talk. Shrugging, he said, "As Will said it. We thought we could help you, but you might have a better chance if you kiss the person you are in love with," he said, jaws tense and rigid.
Percy blinked, looking from one blushing boy to another. "Wait, wait, wait!" He jumped up from his position, to be able to look at the two of them at the same time. "You mean, that... You... Love me? Both of you?"
The two boys stilled, muscles ready to bolt at any time. The three of them stared at each other, not knowing what to say.
In the end, it was Nico, who answered, "And if we do?"
Percy had to be dreaming. There was no way he could be this lucky, right?! His heart pounded wildly against his chest, his mind went completely blank.
"I... Am I dreaming?" He muttered and pinched his arm to make sure he wasn't. Looking back to the boys, he saw confusion in their eyes, but no lies. It was really happening. "I think," he said, deliberately slow, "You could help me more than you thought. Because the people I'm in love with, are you two," he confessed.
It took a beat or two, but before he could start anxiously rambling, he ended up being surprised by a kiss. It was awkward and sudden, but it was absolutely perfect, especially when another mouth joined to the kiss.
When they pulled back, Percy couldn't fight with the dopey grin that threatened to spread across his face.
"You love me," he whispered reverently, with a giddy feeling bubbling in him.
"And you love us," Nico stated, eyes full of wonder and disbelief.
"Should we go back to the party?" Will asked, but Percy shook his head in denial.
"No. I want to go home with you, guys. We have a lot to talk about," he pointed out. Nico nodded, and taking Will's and Percy's hand into his, they were already melted into the shadows.
Nico: Just a minute. I need to go take out the trash.
Percy: Oh. We're going out?
Nico: Wh...
Will: Yes.
Nico: We need to distract them
Percy: Leave it to me
Percy: Centaurs have six limbs and are therefore insects. Discuss.
Will, Jason, and Annabeth: *Immediately begin arguing*
Piper, watching while eating popcorn:
*Nico, Will & Percy flirting with each other yet again*
Jason: And you guys are sure you're not dating?
Nico: 100%.
Will: Uhuh.
Percy: Of course not! Why would you think that?
Jason: I wonder why that possibility would even cross my mind, Percy. I fucking wonder.
Percy: Also I'll teach you how to make cupcakes
Will: Proceed with caution i might burn down your kitchen
Nico: He actually would
