Adult were!glenda for my bestie @cult-of-dollbabies ‘s werewolf charles AU 😌
Newly bitten werewolf Charles running into werewolf Right confused, disoriented, and scared. All Right can think is "must protect overgrown puppy. Teach him the ways of wolf." And immediately takes him under his wing. Once Charles realizes who he's been hanging out with, he... honestly can't care less. Right has been nothing but kind and helpful and not some blood thirsty beast, so... he conveniently neglects to tell Galeforce about the recent Toppat raid he overheard.
Charles continues his friendship with Right in secret, not wanting to put his new friend and mentor in danger.
And he keeps this secret for months, until Galeforce gets suspicious of Charles just running into the woods every weekend and decides to follow him in secret one weekend.
Galeforce freaks out when he finds out Charles is not only a werewolf, but the Toppat's own Right Hand Man is one as well, and the two were hanging out in secret for who knows how long.
Charles tries to defend Right the best he could, but Galeforce was having no excuses, promising Charles that he would cure his werewolf transformation and snap him out of this spell.
Right steps in, baring his fangs as he coldly tells Galeforce that being a werewolf is a gift and there is no spell or curse involved in their friendship, that Right genuinely enjoys his friendship with Charles.
Galeforce just pulls out his gun, threatening Right to get away from Charles and go find a cure for his best helicopter pilot. Right doesn't budge, and neither does Charles, both standing their ground.
But before Galeforce can pull the trigger, a sharp blow to the head knocks the General out. Right knew immediately who it was, his tail wagging as one Dmitri Johannes Petrov came into view.
Charles was confused on why the Warden of the Wall was here, before Right explained that Dmitri is his dad and fellow werewolf, and that Right had called Dmitri to come over to teach Charles about properly running during the night.
Dmitri figured that he needed to explain alot of stuff to Hubert and that they would start their lesson next week, hoisting the General over his back before leaving to take Galeforce back to his room.

“I ain’t ever really had much of a family, not since I was a kid. It feels nice.” He fiddled with the meat in his hands. “You know? To feel like you finally found where you belong?”
Sadie looked up at him, he looked small, which she found funny. He and Arthur both had that way about them, like they felt they didn’t deserve to take up space, to live. She felt her chest tighten.
“How about you, when did you become a wolf?” She walked over and sat next to him near the fire, offering another piece of game.
“I was born one.” Charles took the piece of meat from her, giving her a nod of thanks. Her eyebrows shot up and she turned to look at him. Besides Jake she hadn’t known any other wolves, but she never thought about how there were those born as wolves.
“So you parents were wolves too?”
“My mother, her whole tribe actually. My father...he hated it. He loved my mother so he put up with it, but I think it made him always feel weak.”
“It must have been hard to lose them, your pack.” Sadie’s eyes softened, she put her hand on his shoulder.
“I don’t remember much. I was real young.” He lied, it was easier. The tribe had never really accepted him, they tolerated him and his father. To them he wasn’t ever going to be part of their pack. They were kind, but they were treated as outsiders. He placed his hand on Sadie’s and gave it a small squeeze.
“We left the tribe when I was young, my mother was taken not long after that. It was just me and my father for a while. I don’t think he ever really got over her being taken, and I think when he saw me it hurt him.” He exhaled heavily.
“So I left.
(Werewolf Charles @kassaunjra also thought I should mention that I’ve figured before that he’d be a kind of werewolf that can change willingly at night except under a full moon, then he has no control over the change)
Charles hated how ruthless and cruel some werewolf hunters could be. Some liked to maime and disable their target to take pleasure in the way ‘the great beast suffers’ before killing them. It was messy and dangerous.
Charles had encountered one such hunter that night on a full moon of all things, had shot two silver bullets into his leg and one into his side somewhere rendering him unable to run properly. The hunter also thought it would be fun to nauseate him with a strong garlic scent. His mistake though had been to get close. That was when Charles struck out, attacking and slashing several times hoping to kill.
He didn’t care if he’d completed the job, he only wanted to find a spot that would make him less vulnerable while he tried to heal. So he crawled off, shot leg dragging, to find a cave to hole up in.
(Oooo werewolf Charles!) “W-What are you?” @arty-morgan
Charles cringed and stepped back a bit, his ears flattening against his head. He’d been hoping the other man wouldn’t have to see him like this. But, here he was. Standing in front of him. Staring at his half wolf, half man figure under the full moon. “I’m uh... a werewolf.”

Summary:
Come back, Charles.
It’s a beloved voice that whispers in the spaces between what’s left of his human consciousness and the wild and fraying, thornier parts of his mind. He tips his muzzle into the wind to scent the air, smelling the rain and old rot of trees and damp, rich earth. Farther out, much farther, in the village set deep in the valley hidden away by green hills he catches the scent of smoke and sooty ash of a fire that’s been burning on through the night in the hope of keeping him at bay.
