Peachfield in Westampton, #NewJersey. This stone home was built by the Burr family - the right side in 1725 and the left side in 1732 - and remained in the family for 200 years. All but the exterior walls of the home were destroyed by fire in the late 1920s. The burned-out shell was purchased by Norman and Miriam Harker in 1931 and they worked with architect R. Brognard Oakie to restore the home to its original appearance, with a few modern touches and upgrades. In 1965, Miriam bequeathed Peachfield and 120 acres to the National Society of the Colonial Dames in the State of New Jersey, which continues to operate the site today. #nj #njhistory #SpreadTheHistory #historygirl #peachfield #history #archi_ologie #architecture #oldhouselove #travelblog #travelblogger #blogger #blog #ushistory #americanhistory #jerseycollective #explorenj #southjersey #southjerseyadventures #westampton #westamptonnj (at Peachfield)
