With the war over, the United States demanded that the Russians withdraw. Under pressure from the newly formed United Nations, Stalin finally backed down, but tried to retain influence by forcing Iran to agree to oil concessions and to accept Soviet backed Azerbaijani and Kurdish regimes in the north. Russia 69 years ago today: Berlin Blockade (24 Jun 1948) http://omniatlas.com/maps/russia/19480624/ As a result of the War, Germany had been divided into Allied zones of occupation. The German capital, Berlin, was also divided, even though it was completely surrounded by Soviet-occupied Germany. In 1947, the Americans and British united their zones in Germany. The Soviets, who opposed any restoration of German power, responded by cutting off land and water access to Berlin from the west. However, the western allies were able to save Berlin from choosing between starvation and Soviet dominance by providing to all the city's needs through airlifts. Floating island of grass (reed) ‎چمن متحرک چملی The Moving Grass or Chamli Gol is located in Takab, West Azerbaijan. Chamli Gol, which means ‘an island of grass on a pond’, is a large piece of land covered in straws with their roots stuck together which floats on water. This 100sqm moving island of grass is located on a small but deep pond (8-15m) that shifts directions with the wind or a particular thrust. ‎چملی گول (به معنی برکه‌ای که در وسط آن جزیره‌ای از چمن می‌باشد)، که شامل یک منطقه باتلاقی بوده و در وسط و اطراف آن چمنزارها و نیزارهای بلندی رشد نموده‌است که ارتفاعشان به دومتر هم می‌رسد. این چمن در ۱۵ کیلومتری شهر تاریخی تکاب در استان آذربایجان غربی ایران است. این چمن بصورت جزیره‌ای متحرک با مساحت هشتاد متر مربع بر روی دریاچه‌ای کوچک خودنمایی می‌کند که با وزش باد و جریان هوا و یا تکان خاصی به جهات مختلف تغییر مسیرداده وحرکت می‌کند وهمین امر موجب منحصر به‌فرد شدن این جاذبه طبیعی شده‌است. کل مساحت این برکه عجیب به وسعت یک هکتار است در میان دره‌ای عمیق قرار گرفته که نیزارها، چمن سر سبزدرختان بلند و گلهای زیبا اطراف آن جلوه‌ای خاص و طبیعی و زیبا به آن بخشیده‌است #movinggrass #floatingisland #pond #reed #reedbed #grass #ChamliGol #Takab #WestAzerbaijan #Iran ‎#چملى_گول #چمن_متحرك #جزيره (at Takab)

Anahita Temple at Takht-e Soleyman ‎معبد آناهیتا در تخت سليمان A temple attributed to Anahita, the goddess of water which is located to the northeast of the lake. People used to praise water in this temple. In some periods it was customary, in time of wars, to throw valuable and precious votive objects to the lake and believed that Anahita would protect them against enemies.
