Being Ukrainian, the past three years have been such a slide from "Oh, this celebrity/public figure/influencer said something kind or supportive of our survival, it feels nice" to "Oh, I guess we are no longer a fashionable cause to virtue-signal about".
And with the destruction, death and atrocities only rising, the silence looks not just hypocritical, but increasingly hostile and deliberate.
They WANT us to die in silence because they got bored with our "trend" and have moved on to the next one. With just as much sincerity in their support for that other cause (none).
It's an either/or binary to them, as if these topics are rivaling fandoms.
The world is actively destroying its own humanity. Performativity is a powerful tool for it.
The new package of sanctions against Russia is finally supposed to include a ban on entry for Russians who took part in the genocidal war against Ukraine. But several countries are already pushing back, arguing that it should only be a recommendation rather than a binding measure.
It's the fourth year of the full-scale invasion and the twelfth year of Russia's war against Ukraine as a whole. Thousands of statements saying – "We are deeply concerned". Thousands more saying – "We must stand united".
And yet, when it comes to allowing Russian soldiers into Europe, the deciding factor is the money they bring as tourists. Some countries are literally worried about losing tourism revenue, regardless of where that money comes from.
People were outraged when the Olympic Committee argued that sport should be a "second chance" for people, regardless of what they had done during the war.
But Europe is effectively doing the same thing through tourism.
So in Europe, it's entirely possible for a Ukrainian refugee — a mother with her child, for example — to run into the very person who killed her relatives, committed sexual violence against civilians, took part in torture, or committed other war crimes, simply because he came there for a vacation.
Just fucking imagine that.
people who are stupid: death is not good and dying is bad which is why i am against the war in gaza. also because of this i think we should kill all zionists

Hussain Abdul-Hussain
As an Iraqi, I survived Saddam Hussain’s brutality.
As a Lebanese, I survived Lebanon’s bloody civil war, Assad’s tyranny, and Hezbollah’s iron fist.
In all my life, not a single European stood with Iraqis or Lebanese against their killers. Now, all those who remained silent then are donning a Kufiyyah, pretending that it was Israel that started a war on Palestinians on Oct 7, 2023.
It’s the frustration resulting from this global unfairness that made Jews revive their state. It’s this unfairness that keeps Jews seeing how valuable their state is.
Many westerners (especially Americans) seem to think defending yourself against genocide and Russian terror is equivalent to being a warmonger. Wild.
If you are one of these people, I urge you to be consistent and never practice self-defense for the rest of your life. If someone is trying to murder you, just let them. 🤷🏻♀️ Otherwise, you might anger your murderer and that would be maniacally violent and irresponsible of you. It’s also no one’s responsibility to help you. You have to protect yourself (but never actually do that because that’s evil and would make you a bloodthirsty criminal).
it blows my mind that some bitch, sitting in her safe and warm apartment in a country protected by NATO's nuclear arsenal, sees a post about how Russia hit several hospitals in Ukraine with cruise missiles (one of which is a children's hospital for children with cancer) killing dozens of civilians and her first reaction was to write crap about a Ukrainian tennis pro, again writing "fuck Ukrainians who talk about their genocide" and not "fuck hypocrites who don't allow talking about other genocides in sports" and 40k fucking people agreed with it
