Night Run!
Went out on a trail run in the dark with Jess and Emma. Jess "graduated" but is doing her internship at home, and she's chillin in the Burg for a week. So we did a trail run at Massanutten Western Slopes. It was really badass and fricken awesome. Night running is really cool.
I ran in the Hoka Stinson Trails and it was pretty interesting. It's cool because it basically allows you to do whatever and not have to worry about your feet. You basically step on whatever and heel strike to holy hell because you can. The only downside is that you hardly feel anything, and it's really nice to feel stuff sometimes.
But yeah, kickass run was tons of fun. Then went to Rocky Horror Picture Show which was a lot of fun.
Happy running YALL!!1!!
Double Feature
I woke up this morning to run with Kelly on some trails, and I was SO close to just going back to sleep because I was so fricken tired. BUT I told myself maybe the run would rejuvenate me and make me more awake. I picked her up, we headed to the trails, and began. We took it real easy and slow, and it felt GOOD! It wasn't too much of a challenge which was exactly what I needed - a run for the pure enjoyment. This left us feeling replenished with energy after the run as opposed to drained.
Then I went to work (in which I had a Qdoba burrito for lunch). After work, I was going to change to run from the store, but I decided while pooping to try a track workout! So I called Kelly and she was down for summa dat!
We met up at the track, did some active stretches and began out workout. We did 600, 400, 300, 200, 100, 100, 200, 300, 400, 600 with 200m walk/jog in between reps and 300m in between the 2 sets. We had a lot of fun in the beginning, and a lot of fun pushing through to the end towards the latter of the ladder. I ran 1:56, 73, 53, 34, 14, 14, 33, 53, 73, 2:00. It was real rough at the end, but I was happy to be done with it. We cooled down a mile together and then went our separate ways to our respective abodes.
Both runs were tons of fun and so enjoyable and awesome.
CAN'T WAIT FOR RUNNING CAMP TO START TOMORROW!
Flow like a Crow, Joe, Yo!
Met up with the Rocktown Ridge Runners today at 5:30. We drove over to the Western Slopes of Massanutten for a VERY sweaty and warm run. We had a bunch of fun and took it easy...for the first half. Then we kind of took it a bit faster and flowed with the trail to the best of our abilities, and it was so much fun.
Going fast on the road is fun.
Going fast on the trail is spiritual.
It's seriously on another level. The Frazier bros are ridiculously good, so I spent today trying to keep up with them. We flew down steep downhills with little rocks and roots. We flowed through rolling, technical sections, forcing us to quickly dodge rocks attempting to trip us. We powered the uphills to feel that strength in our quads.
At the end of the run, my torso was a gnat graveyard/swimming pool. There is nothing as ironically rejuvenating than a trail run.
