listen to me ok crunchy bread is FINE. i think its too pointy but its FINE. but wet bread??? when you dunk it in water/milk/juice/other liquid of choice? THATS the fucking shit it has the BEST texture. when i was a kid i used to dump a whole loaf in milk and i ate it whole. it was the greatest childhood snack and i will die on this hill

My favorite diner has been closed for weeks. Against all odds, they were open today and I excitedly ordered my regular. When I went to pick it up, I heard them telling people in line at the register that they don't have any meat, not enough eggs to make omelets, and only decaf coffee. I got my french toast and they told me that they were out of powdered sugar and syrup. I said that's fine, I picked it up, pais for it, and left. I got home, and not only was there no powdered sugar, no syrup, and no butter, but also half the slices weren't even battered. They gave me toast, just regular ass toast, flavorless and crunchy. The other half, if you'd believe it, was overbattered and soggy! I think they soaked this half, then soaked it again on accident instead of soaking the other half, and they didn't cook it long enough so it was slimy, like it had been chewed up and spit out and reformed into slice shapes.

I had a negative breakfast experience last week because I went to a different place, but this is my regular haunt, my diner, my drive in, my dive, so this lapse in quality is immeasurably worse.
