I just found out that Dan Abnett wrote some of the Malus Darkblade novels for WH:F and if he wrote them just half as gay as he wrote Gaunt and Rawne in Gaunt's Ghosts, I NEED TO READ THOSE

Another thing I liked about the dark elves in Battle March was btw how they were written and voice acted; they had some genuine selfconfidence radiating from them, calm ego. I love that in characters, I know I'm on the "I love pathetic people" website, but I love competent, confident folks with a spine and oh god the sheer arrogance of the dark elven leaders was amazing to listen to.

Bonus mention:

A lore text in Battle March mentions a dark elf woman covered in scars who is a smith of highest skill. Yes? Please yes? It's kind of sad it's just a side mention in a short text, but I have pictures in my mind now and I'm a weak bisexual

Dark Elves in old Warhammer Fantasy are really such a guilty pleasure for me. I read through the (short) unit descriptions and I do like that the standard units, the ones in armour, are actually of mixed gender with no difference in training or recruitment; feels almost like an excuse for the cliche sexy daughters of Khaine (I do like both; but I always prefer if BOTH the armoured and the half-naked elves are of mixed gender, personally. WH40k does it better with the Wyches here imo)

I also think the "duell" feature of this game, which locks hero units in one-on-one fights is really cool.

Here the game pulls through with the mixed gender recruitment; the voice lines are spoken by a woman and as you can see, both have basically the same armour design, just she has, what I think is meant to be boob plate? I dislike boobplate, but ironically here in these graphics it makes the more egalitarian lore recognisable. I also think it just underlines the point that both of them carry the siege weapon together. I love that bit.

The harpies with their batwigns were also cool, ghastly creatures, their voice acting was also quite something; felt totally on edge and with a high level of aggression

The black guard is up my alley too. Dark Elves with HALBERDS???? YESSSS I love halberds! So fucking much!

By now I'm through with the campaign and I genuinely like how it treated both the Orks and the Dark Elves with respect and that they were the centre of the narrative. Right before the final battle, you can also make a choice which will affect the end.

It wasn't really deep and the best game I ever played, but it was solid, fullfilled some guilty pleasures of mine and was funny too. So I'd say, it's worth giving a shot if you ever see it on sale on gog.

The addon for Mark of Chaos, "Battle March" is pretty nice. As said in a previous post, the Orks are written absolutely hilariously and so fun.

The Dark Elves are very cliche and stereotypical, but I admit, it's a total goth guilty pleasure for my bisexual ass. I'm just swooning over their looks and voice acting constantly.

I also like that the Dark Elf protagonist is a witch and she....actually gets what she wants? I'm not through yet, so something could still kick her ass, but so far she is the protag and she is winning. She even got her revenge with an epic battle between her and a high elf sorceress a top a ruined tower in the mountains

WH:F and not 40k

So after a friend pushed me to give Total War Warhammer 3 a try (I did a playthrough with the Empire as Karl Franz since it felt like the most beginner experience to me. With two mods, Victory Conditions Overhaul and Legendary Lore) and as I expected, it does some things SO VERY VERY RIGHT and has a ton of flaws which bother me (many can possibly corrected via mods though)

Anyhow, this reminded me that back in the 2000s I played "Warhammer: Mark of Chaos" but only ever finished the "order" (Empire, High Elves, Dwarves) campaign and never the Chaos (Chaos, Skaven) campaign. So, well, I just finished said campaign and while it was mostly unintersting machismo to me, I found it a bit refreshing that the dialogues were clearly not written by Anglo people, it had something much rougher to it. I found it particularly amusing when the Tzeentch sorceror called the Chaos champion "Son of a Whore!" :DDD

I found this picture in a Warhammer Fantasy wiki and it states that it's a depiction of Ulrika Magdova, but I couldn't find any source for it, does someone know if it's actually her? And which book it is in? Because she looks amazing here!
