Getting into my own HC about Fresh, he's a bit of a detritivore when he can't access hosts. Magic is his main diet, but he can't really process it unless its a lot more chopped up and, well, processed by someone else. Usually he'll get that by eating Souls, but when he can't I think he makes due with things like dust and other magic waste.

I don't think its preferred, takes a lot more to digest than just a Soul, and has way less magic as well. Its not too bad though, a lot of the magic he gets from a soul he uses to control and maintain the body he's in, so even if he's not getting nearly as much magic on dust alone, its not like, fatal.

In this artwork, I think Nightmare's prolly feeding him, a murdered gang member? Probably murder, cus its funny to me [dust from dust heehoo] and cus I'd imagine he gets rid of him most often. Fresh is a bit annoyed cus that's kinda nasty :P he's eating nice tasty soul he does Not want to eat whatever Nightmare just scraped off the floor. ew.

I *should*... That's the through-line that Althea and Cassie have & neither of my other mage Wardens/Warden-Commanders are blood mages. And my intention with all of the canons is to have a connecting thread between the Warden / the Champion / the Inquisitor / I guess Rook too.
