GIVE IT UP FOR WHALE FALL WEDNESDAY

Devoid of light, forever midnight.

Under the crushing burden of the heavens,

life feels austere, but not impossible.

Food is scarce. They've learned to live with it.

But the fates are merciful, for they let some witness a boon larger than existence,

a blessing a few experience in their lifetimes in this vast ocean,

a blessing that lasts generations.

A feast for decades.

"Hallelujah" they say,

"a god has fallen."

Osedax is a genus of marine Polichaeta (sea worms) known for its inusual diet: they consume bones, specially whale bones. In almost all species, the males are tiny and live inside the female's tube. Also, they don't have a digestive tract, instead, microorganisms digest their food. By degenerating the bone, Osedax creates space for other organisms to inhabit it, including even tinier worms.

The deep ocean exemplifies the beauty of life unlike any other place on earth. In death, life blooms unending. In darkness, light is created yet again. In unimaginable pressure, softness provides survival. What an amazing thing, to share a planet with so much magic.

I HAVE A THEORY

I've been seeing so many people talking about whale falls. Which is when(correct me if I'm wrong) whales are so old or hurt they just stop moving and die and just fall to the ocean floor.

I think in Atlantic the beginning verse is about a whale fall.

Call me when they bury bodies underwater: whales are mammals and I think they would mourn the loss of their friends and families. And the burying bodies is them falling.

Its blue light over murder for me: The sunlight through the ocean falling on the injured whales

Crumble like a temple built from future daughters, the vast generations that all die in the same spot

To wastelands when the oceans recede: If you take away the water all you will see is a wasteland of bones.

TITAINS ARE JUST WHALES

“oh what do you mean?” I already hear the “but they literally have nothing in common expect they’re big” but you have to listen okay.

Hunted to near extinction 

Both of the species got hunted for sport near to extinction there was possibly 1.1 million sperm whales according to google but today there are about 300,000 because of whaling, a popular job back a very long time ago, it was the process of killing whales, this is directly brings us to my second point

Titians blood and Sperm oil

We know titains blood it seems to have lots of power making portals through time, universes and all that, you want a portal you need titians blood. It's body fulid that accidentally was just really good at something else. But what is sperm oil? Sperm oil is basically the blubber inside the head of a sperm whale, this is why whaling was a thing they needed the sperm oil, it was used as a lubricant for machines before other more efficient things were available. A BODY FLUID FROM A DEAD CARCASS IS USED IN A DIFFERENT WAY..

Titian corpse and Whale corpse ecosystems

Basically you know how the Titian is the environment that everyone stands on and they like they be thriving, well whale corpse basically does the same thing in real life, when a whale dies and ends up at the deep sea floor an ecosystem blooms, this is called a whale fall

This could also explain what is coming outta papa Titian’s left eye too!! I believe that that is the equivalent to a bone eating worm, called a zombie worm!! basically these worms live in the decaying bones of the whale and feast!

I could say more but i’ve been typing so furiously that my hands hurt, so I’m gonna stop. But in conclusion whales are really similar to titans and I feel like we need to talk about that because oh my god I was genuinely like realizing more and more as I typed it’s crazy, I didn’t even get to the sound waves part but adios. of course! I apologize for such a late response. I really enjoy sharing marine bio stuff and lots of queer content, so I’m really happy to hear that you’re enjoying my blog!!

WHALE FALLS R SO COOL!! I love how they can host entire ecosystems through their different stages. I learned recently that there have been entirely new varieties of animals discovered at whale falls, which is literally so rad!! I wish I was indestructible and could breathe underwater so I could see one in the real. seeing a whale skeleton? cool as hell. seeing a whale skeleton and its remains feasted upon? even cooler as hell!!

whenever I think of whale falls, I think of that one video with all of the little octopuses on that one whale carcass because that was the first time I ever saw a whale fall and it lives in my head forever.
