In my opinion, I wouldn't recommend the gemsona maker to actually make gemsonas, as they options for it are very, very limited. It is good for making concept designs for a gem, however.
I think it's a good starting point for people who aren't confident in their artistic abilities. It is rather limiting, but it is a doll maker after all! It's a solid starting point for people who just want to get an idea about what they want their gems to look like more or less.
