[professor voice] well you see, this piece is about CONTRAST. Its opposites are simply REFLECTIONS, symbolizing how every extreme is brought into focus by its counterpart. Especially fascinating is how it SUBVERTS its own implied conventions... the sun, for instance, does not bring with it a dark sky... nor, as I’m sure many of you are aware, should the moon appear in the light. And what can we glean from the hatching-like MOTIF? Is this a METAPHOR for the artist’s inner turmoil, falling apart at the edges the way her sanity inevitably will, and not simply a low-effort, completely meaningless attempt to sPiCe Up her “I’m having art block” warmup piece?
