#OnThisDay July 6, 1985 @officialHeart released their self titled eighth studio album. The album charted at #1 on the @billboardcharts and it’s certified 5x platinum. This album contains the singles #WhatAboutLove #Never the #1 single #TheseDreams and #NothingAtAll. This morning like all anniversary releases I listened to this album again and it felt comforting and the good memories of this release came back to me. Next to “Dreamboat Annie” this is my favorite Heart album. While I was deep into metal during my graduating year from high school in 1985, Heart’s self titled album was the counter balance for me while displaying similar traits. Yeah, it was a slick produced 80’s album and the band did cover other act’s songs also going through a more glamorous image change, but for me it was a solid release of 10 songs that I would play constantly in 85 and throughout the decade (and even still play in my older years). During this three album span that included “Bad Animals” and “Brigade” to go along with their earlier 70’s material, Heart became one my favorite bands. While the band lost some members from their harder rocking 70’s era, the Wilson sisters and Howard Leese sling with a new rhythm section, took the band to their biggest commercial peaks. It was like the band’s second life had begun. I loved both the 70’s and 80’s eras of Heart.
