Ghost stood still and silent as his namesake, deep red eyes fixed on the great winged beasts swooping above him. Jon, holding onto Rhaegal with a white-knuckled grip, did not see the figure of his old friend against the snow. Ahead of him, Drogon let out a deafening screech and dove, and the silver-haired queen atop him laughed in wild abandon, urging him on.

The direwolf did not move for a long time, even after the dragons had already disappeared over the horizon.  At last he turned away and vanished into the trees. Home, then. To Winterfell and the pack.
