Dragons, an addition of Lore
Dragons were born from the end of the Slaying. The Amounts of energy and magic of the Gods simply needed new hosts.
So the Creatures called Dragons were formed.
These Dragons, realising the World has just went through a Apocalyptic event and centuries long War ruining majority of it, went to Repair the Damage and protect the Beings from further agression. They Resowed the land with Nature, refilled lakes and rivers and brought the Armies of the two forces home.
They Seperated the continents with magical barriers of Storms and Whirlpools in the ocean, hindering them to leave their Continents and make contact, isolating them to their designated lands. And made evry living being Forget the events of the Slaying, editing the religion and history.
The Continents Grantsach and Eryntell, forming the Continent Grantyllen
were set to be the purely inhabited by humans, as it was the Land where both the divine landed and Malia set out their Revenge on the Gods.
And were commanded by dragons of Calm, reasonable and intelligent traits as to make sure no event like Malia could happen again.
Fremwyld
Fremwyld was largely untouched by the Slaying, the gods had their events and hands in the shaping of the culture and land there but they also were edited by the dragons, just that the dragons of Fremwyld were proactive, and active after their initial changes, interacting with eachother and the population heavily. So much so that the entire land is inhabited with dragons now, not as strong as the first, but the people either live among them, fear them or hunt them. depending on what region and what clan they are a part of.
(imagine HTTYD basically)
Frynland
had no interactions with the original dragons born from the slaying, but due to its proximity to Fremwyld it not houses many dangerous dragons on, in and under its ice
Demmerun
was the main battlefield of the slaying, and such needed the most rebuilding, and the most dragons, which are now rather inactive, a few are seen controlling the land every century or so making sure nothing goes wrong, the people largely see them as divine signs of good luck and protection
Emr
As originpoint of the Ending event of the Gods Emr is still a dust covered inhabitable land, the people there are only surviving due to the dragons of their land periodically creating storms that fill the few rivers and force plants to grow
