i just saw someone on tiktok post their BOUND VERSIONS of that fanfiction and...are the marauder fans side of the fandom about to enter their lawsuit era...😭
So my company [construction company] gets the checks delivered in a big fat envelope every Friday at about 11am. And then people come and pick up their checks throughout the day and such.
For some reason the checks never came in today. It's 4 minutes to close right now and we still have no checks. Our shop manager is staying late to wait for them and pass them out when they do eventually come in. Which is a nightmare ofc, but besides the point.
There's a new guy who's been here for maybe 3 weeks, I'll call him Jim. Jim calls every Friday to ask if the checks are here, before driving to the office to pick his up. However, since the checks were NOT in yet today, he hung up and said he'd call back later.
20 minutes go by, and Jim calls back. I tell him there's still no checks. I apologize for them being late and he says he'll call back.
Another 20 minutes pass. Jim calls. I tell him there are still no checks, and ask him for his number (sometimes caller ID doesn't match up) and I tell him I will call him once the checks arrive. He gives me his number and hangs up.
Yet another 20 minutes pass. Jim calls me again & asks about the checks. I tell him there are still no checks. He hangs up.
An additional 20 minutes pass (this was uncanny, idk if he set a timer between calls or what but it was always almost exactly 20 minutes) Jim walks in the front door of the office and asks about his check. I tell him we still don't have any checks. He asks if I can just cut him one, and I say no, I cant, and our HR is out today so we have nobody in the office that can legally sign his check anyways. He leaves his number with me again and drives away.
20 minutes pass. Jim calls again, asking to talk to my manager. I just go ahead and transfer him bc this was getting extremely frustrating. He tells my manager that he suspects I am illegally withholding his check. My manager says that no, I am not holding his check, and we have been calling the delivery company all day with no clear answers as to where the checks are. Tracking says that they are "in transit" but we don't know WHERE. He hangs up.
About 40 minutes pass this time. Jim calls again. I tell him there is still no checks. He asks for the manager again. I transfer him to her. They basically repeat the conversation they had previously. We tell him that our shop manager is staying late today to wait for the checks, and give him that manager's number. Jim hangs up.
20 minutes pass. Jim walks in the front door again. I don't even bother saying hello and I just tell him checks are still not here and I have to go home. He tells me that withholding checks is illegal. I tell him I have no checks to withhold. He tells me this whole situation is ridiculous. I say yes, it is, I agree. I call the store manager so he can come talk to Jim. They talk for a while as I sit and hide in the conference room. The store manager says everything we had already been explaining to Jim all day, and Jim leaves again.
30 minutes pass. Jim comes in again and sits down, saying he'll wait for his check. I say okay, but the shop manager is staying until 6 o'clock. Jim curses at me, calls the shop manager, and then leaves again.
I am going home now. Jesus fucking christ man.
so.
I started working as a kitchen porter at a local function suite about a month ago (Nov 6) and only did a couple of shifts a week up until about 2 weeks ago. they never officially hired me and my wages were given directly to me rather than via bank transfer. my hours were also not a contract so I was in just whenever because they operate by bookings only. a few hours after my last shift, the chef either got fired or walked out so I'm not working there until they get a new chef. they haven't contacted me since Nov 20 so idk if they've hired a new chef.
BUT I have a job interview for a pub/restaurant next monday which is way better and more stable, 25 hours a week and is roughly the same distance from my house (about a 20 minute walk). if I'm successful I will be ghosting my old employers <3 anyways fingers crossed and whatnot
This is going to age well.
theres a ref for tensei and i cant believe i havent seen it until now (its from the bnha spinoff manga, vigilantes)
