Hmm I have a tendency to ramble so I’ll try to stay relatively brief! This is going to probably be very vague, I do not have the details of their character/situation worked out. But morally grey is right, and I feel like I don’t give them enough credit because they are the sort of person who’s striving to do good by the world and actively takes steps to make that happen, and I think they do usually have the right reasons for that! Most of the problem boils down to how they treat individual people and their relationships, though on the bigger scale too they do lean into the ‘ends justify the means’ sort of deal, they’ve got a fantasy paladin vibe and see matters in a very decisive way where bad is bad and good is good, and as long as you’re working toward ‘good’ you are ‘good’. I don’t think they’ve done anything heinous, but they definitely have crossed a few moral lines

In personal matters, it gets a bit more complicated? Clemency has a bit of a hero complex, and a tendency to downplay or brush aside others’ feelings. They think they know best in most situations and once they’re set on a result they don’t really pay attention to how other people are affected? Clem doesn’t ever really step back from a problem, regardless of whether or not it’s their business to get into, and will much more commonly fix the problem on their own without consulting anyone actually involved, rather than taking a more supportive role.

All in all, they’re not a terrible person, but what stops them from being a good person is that they’ve made no attempt to recognize the things they’ve done wrong, and they’ve ended up hurting people close to them as a result of various actions. While it possible for them to still learn and grow, I think it would take a lot and they probably are not going to change, they’ve had opportunities to do so that they haven’t taken.

As for Midge, they did vibe in the past as close friends, but as previously mentioned that is Difficult. Midge is one of those people who feels hurt by Clemency’s actions and no longer wants anything to do with them. Clem gave her space for a while, but they seem to think that the time and distance should have been enough to fix the problems between them, and is trying to get right back to how things were.

I KNOW EVERYONE’S CELEBRATING nye and i hope you have a great time but i have been struggling to be on here or carrie . i’ve been setting up lyra but my activity is going to be very touch and go this new year .

i’ve been in and out of the hospital with weird severe pain in my back ( some ppl may remember my complaining at the time lmao ) and then other bone pain , dizziness and bad bruising . i’ve been passing out at work and falling asleep constantly . anyway turns out my blood work came back weird , and basically i have an increase in abnormal white blood cells and a decrease in red cells / platelets so they’re doing a bone marrow biopsy ( probably with extra tests that have been discussed following soon after ) with the current fear being acute lymphoblastic leukaemia . especially considering i had osteosarcoma as a child .

i am currently feeling positive . regardless of diagnosis or results . i’m strong and focused and i’ve beaten worse odds before . work has been incredibly supportive and so have my friends bc i dont have close family but i would appreciate any good vibes and patience you guys have spare . i love you all and hope you have an amazing new year .

aw man she's starting night shifts on sunday which I knew (she has tomorrow off), but she's gonna aim for a full 12hr flip (going to bed at 11am instead of 11pm) so that she's awake during interview hours. which also means she won't be awake for very long before leaving for work during her "mornings", which is when I'll be awake :(

(also she's already starting to just be constantly background grouchy abt the whole application process and I've let her know I don't want to be on edge for another 6 months like I had to be last time and at least a little of that grouchiness is in her control.)

#also because she's on night shift we had to tack a sheet over the bedroom window #which was difficult #and also loses me ambient lighting at night #which is like. the point. but I don't actually like complete darkness like she does.#it's a lot less important than the window in the living room #but it's probably making me feel a little iffy about it because of that #I offered earlier to let it stay up until we move #but if it bothers me I might ask if we can take it down once she doesn't need it #idk we'll see.#she's also been coughing a lot this evening.#which is mildly worrisome.

sat in a small forest and made a triangle entirely out of sticks. feels good. tied some string to it and had it dangling from the key in my wardrobe for a bit.
