The next morning, the coronation for the girls was announced, and a week later, they stood before Odin, Frigga, Thor, and Loki to be crowned as the Princesses of Asgard. Both girls wore beautiful golden gowns with green and blue lace details.
Lilly stood at the front of the room, watching the girls with a smile on her face. Once Odin and Frigga placed the glittering golden diadems on the girls’ heads, the crowd around Lilly went wild. The people of Asgard were already in love with the two girls, and seeing them as princesses made them ecstatic.
After the reception, the royal family had dinner together, a much more calm dinner than their first one together. This was full of laughter and joy, the girls wearing matching smiles, and Thor let Loki convince the girls to try the wine, which made both the girls turn rosy at the amount of alcohol.
The dinner was served quickly, as the girls had to go to bed early for their “princess lessons” as Mary called them. They would learn how to be proper princesses with lessons on etiquette and some geography of the realms.
Loki, Lilly, Mary, and Jenny all bid the King, Queen, and their uncle good night and Loki led them down to the royal sleeping hall. He showed Mary and Jenny their rooms, two giant doors side by side, but he assured them that there was another door inside that connected the two rooms.
Both girls gave their father a kiss on the cheek and hugged their mother. The Princesses bid their parents good night, and entered their new rooms.
Loki looked to Lilly once the doors had closed and began walking her to her new room.
“It’s been a wonderful year, Lilly,” he told her as they stopped at a door not too far from his own, “I hope I’m not too forward in saying that I enjoy your company immensely.”
“You’re not. I very much enjoy being around you, Loki.”
The two stood in the hall for a moment longer before Lilly turned to the door and asked, “Would you like to come in?”
Loki smiled and followed Lilly into her new rooms. There was a couch, fire place, and book shelf before the room opened up into a larger bedroom. Lilly watched from the couch as Loki lit the fire and pulled out an unopened bottle of wine.
He made two glasses appear and poured wine into each glass before handing one to Lilly.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to you using your magic,” she told him, taking a sip of the wine she’d grown used to drinking since she arrived.
“Well, that’s exactly what I wanted to speak with you about. I know I said I wanted us to both be around for the girls as they grew up. And I do want that. But I’d like to propose another way for us to do that. I’d like to have them see their parents together.”
Lilly stared up at Loki, nearly dropping her glass as she thought about what he was saying. What he was proposing.
“You want us to be like, together?”
Loki laughed, “Yes, I would like that. I’d like to start courting you, Lilly. I’ve grown incredibly fond of you in these last few months, and I would like to spend more time with you.”
Loki watched as she took in the information, her expression not giving away what she was thinking, but when she put her glass on the table beside her and turned to him, he could see her answer in her eyes.
“I’ve found myself enjoying my time with you as well. And I’d like to be courted by you, Loki.” he smiled and set his own glass down. They leaned towards one another and carefully pressed their lips together.
It was hesitant at first, nervous like a first kiss, but once they became more comfortable, Loki’s hands came up to cup her cheeks, pulling her closer, and Lilly’s arms wrapped around his neck.
Their lips danced over one another until Lilly had to pull back to breathe. She smiled shyly at Loki and leaned into him, letting his arm wrap around her shoulders as they laid together on the couch, watching the fire burn and warm with the memory of their kiss.
The next morning, Lilly woke in her bed, alone, thinking of the conversation she had with Loki the night before. She smiled to herself and threw the covers off of her, determined to dress herself in something breathtaking today.
She had been given new clothing a while ago from Frigga, telling her that she was the mother of Princesses, and she deserved to wear beautiful clothing. So, Lilly pulled a light green dress out of the wardrobe and pulled it on, tying the neck straps and letting her hair loose.
The flowing fabric made her feel free and she smiled as she turned in front of the mirror and watched the fabric flutter around her.
A subconscious part of her mind told her that green was Loki’s color, but she didn’t think further of it when she saw her girls at the breakfast table. They both wore matching dresses, one in blue, the other a light purple. They were talking with Frigga about magic, and when Lilly entered the room, she smiled at the sight.
“Morning, Mom,” Jenny said as she sat across from them, next to Frigga. She ate a bit of breakfast and conversed with the other girls.
“Where’s Loki?” Lilly asked, noting that it was just the girls at the table for breakfast.
“Thor and Loki went with Odin to a council meeting. They’ll be back by dinner, but I was hoping to have you and the girls over for afternoon tea once they’re done with some lessons,” Frigga explained to her before she drank some of her tea.
“That sounds wonderful,” Lilly said, “I was hoping to talk to you before then, I have some things I need to do on Earth soon, and I wanted to have someone come with me.”
“Do what, dear?”
“I needed to grab a few things from the house. Not a lot, but a few things I’d forgotten when we collected our things a year ago.”
“Of course, I’ll have someone go with you later today if you’d like?”
Lilly nodded and watched as the teachers came to get Mary and Jenny from the dining room to start their lessons.
Frigga was right in saying she wouldn’t see Loki till later that afternoon, before her tea time with Frigga, she’d run into him outside the library.
“Hello darling,” Loki had said, kissing her forehead and standing with her for a moment, “how are you?”
“I’m alright. I’m going to talk with your mother about going to Earth. I have to pick up some things.”
“Who’s accompanying you?”
“I’m not sure yet, I have to talk to Frigga first.”
“Alright. Well, I must go back, I’ll see you tonight? I was hoping we could have dinner together?”
“Of course, I’d love that.”
He kissed her, this time on the lips, before he walked back towards the conference room.

One day you answer the door to meet a man (Loki) claiming to be the girls’ father, come to take them home with him. You all go to Asgard to sort out the twins’ custody, and at first Loki’s convinced they’d be better off with him because he doesn’t see how any adoptive parent could possibly love them as much as he could (thanks Odin), but the more he sees you interact with them the more he realises he was wrong. The more he sees how much you care about his daughters and how good a mother you are, the more he falls for you, until finally he asks to court you and, at the girls’ urging, you accept.

Part 1; Part 2; Part 3; Part 4; Part 5
The morning that the four of them were meant to go riding together, Loki called them to his rooms for breakfast. Both Jenny and Mary were incredibly excited for the day ahead of them, but Lilly was nervous. She felt like there was a knot in the pit of her stomach. She didn’t know if it was a bad feeling, or a good one.
The last date Lilly had been on was before the girls were adopted, and even though there were plenty of men that tried to win Lilly’s affection, but she was never as interested in them as she was in Loki.
After getting past his grumpy side and enjoying dinner with him, she started to see him as someone she could get close to. Someone that she wanted in the role of “father” for her girls.
The girls were both dressed in riding clothes, nearly identical copies of one another. Mary had her black hair braided to the left, and Jenny had it braided to the right, that was the biggest indication of the difference between the two, and when Loki saw them, Lilly couldn’t help but laugh at his obvious confusion.
“I know it’s hard to tell the two apart,” Lilly said once the girls had settled in, “but they do have quite different mannerisms. You’ll learn to pick them up once you’ve known them for a while. For instance, Jenny’s the more talkative one. She also has her ears pierced. Mary refused to get her’s done when she was ten, and she never told me that she wanted to get them done. Also, Mary’s got the shorter hair.”
Loki nodded, looking over to the girls as they poked around his sitting room. They admired the books, especially the ones that had traces of magic within them. As they sat down for breakfast, the two girls asked Loki about the trip they would be taking.
“Where is it that we’re going exactly?” Jenny asked, taking a bite of what looked like oatmeal. Loki leaned forward and said, “There are trails in the woods around the western side of the palace. Odin would take Thor and myself riding when we were children, there are plenty of stops we can make along the way to the picnic area. Waterfalls, clearings, even some caves.”
The girls’ eyes lit up at the thought of such an adventurous day ahead of them, and Lilly smiled. It was good to see the girls interacting positively with the man that was their father.
Breakfast was short, the girls eager to get out onto their horses, and when the four of them got to the stables, they were equipped with their own horses.
“Marilyn, Jennifer, meet your steeds, Eira and Dhyna. They’re sisters as well. Not twins, but very close in age. Their mother was a very good mare. My steed is Falhofner. And your mother will be riding Ylara.”
The girls chose their respective horses, Mary picking Dyhna, who appeared to be a docile mare with brown spots adorning her tan coat. Jenny mounted Eira, who’s black coloring matched the girl’s hair. Loki gracefully, and Lilly wasn’t sure how, but smoothly mounted Falhofner while one of the stable boys had to help hoist Lilly onto Ylara, who she felt was anxious to get out of the stable.
Loki led the girls out of the stable and towards the western side of the castle where a large gate was situated with guards standing beside it. When the two golden-armored men caught sight of Loki, they bowed their heads.
“Your Highness.” One addressed Loki as the four of them passed through the now open gate into a lush green forest.
It was easy for Lilly to see the path Loki mentioned, there was a clearly warn down path in the dirt, and Lilly didn’t have to direct Ylara very much to get her to follow the path, as if her mare had ridden it her entire life. And for all Lilly knew, perhaps she had.
“Now, just up ahead there is a pond, it’s filled with fish and toads and other little creatures. A small stream flows to it and fills it when it’s low on water, but it’s where the stream leads to that’s one of the best parts of the trip today.” Loki told the girls as they passed a small opening where she could see a small, circular pond with cattails and lily pads covering a majority of it’s surface.
They traveled a handful of minutes further down the trail before they came to a wider opening, the trees clearing out and giving way to the expansive sky and a very large cliff like structure.
From the top of the cliff, there was a roaring waterfall which Lilly couldn’t help but admire for it’s otherworldly beauty.
“My mother liked to come out here with me when I was learning to control my own magic. I’d like to bring you girls out here to do the same thing once you’ve gone through some of the basic lessons about your magic.” The girls led their horses closer to the water and Mary hopped off, walking to the water that formed at the base of the waterfall.
The water looked very clear, perhaps the clearest water that Lilly had ever seen. Jenny joined her sister and inspected the water while Loki watched. He noted that Lilly wasn’t as sure on Ylara as the girls were on their horses, so he stayed beside her.
He rounded Falhofner to Lilly’s left, pausing beside her to watch the girls.
“They’re so happy here,” Lilly said as she watched the girls splash each other in the water, “I can only imagine their frustration at having to return to schooling, whether it’s here or back on Earth. We haven’t had this much family time in years.”
Loki watched the girls, who had taken their boots off and were wading around in the ankle-deep water, picking up shining blue rocks from the magic of the waterfall.
“Lilly,” Loki started, waiting until she looked at him to continue, “I am sorry for how I acted when you first arrived. I’m glad you’re here, actually. You know more about the twins than I do, and having you here to help me is incredibly helpful. For both me and the girls. And… I do realize they need their mother in their lives, so if you would, I’d like you to stay here, with us, while the girls finish their education here.”
Lilly took a second to think. Staying with them, here, on an alien planet. No mortgage, no job. No parent teacher conferences. Lilly had a few friends, but they were mostly the parents of the girls that Mary and Jenny had sleepovers with.
The girls. Lilly thought. They would have the make the decision to stay if they actually wanted to. And Lilly would follow with what they wanted.
Loki could see that she was thinking quite hard about his request for her to stay and quite frankly, it worried him that she was going to say no.
“If the girls say yes, then we’ll stay. But we’ll have to collect some of our things from the house. I’ll have to sell it-”
“You wouldn’t. We could keep up the house and maintain the payment for it. You could have it for a vacation home to return to if you felt homesick, or the girls wanted to go.”
“Well… we’ll figure it out when the girls give us an answer.” Lilly said as the girls rejoined them on their horses.
The rest of the trip was quick to the large clearing where there was already a blanket set up and food already set. The girls chatted with Loki about school back on Earth and Lilly smiled at the thought of the four of them staying to become some sort of family here.
Once the four were finished with their picnic, they sat on the blanket and watched Loki perform some of his magic. He showed the girls his ability to clone himself, which Mary joked that they already had a clone of one another, so what’s the point.
He showed them how he could transform into different animals, including a large black wolf that frightened Lilly a bit. He showed them the green magic that they had seen at the house, and how he could make shapes out of it and let it dance around with the wind.
As the sun was about to set, the four of them mounted their horses and made their way back to the palace. Mary and Jenny decided it would be a good idea to race their horses back to the stable, so Lilly and Loki were left to head back together.
“Thank you for today, Loki,” Lilly said as they approached the gates of the palace. “It made them happy.”
“I’d do anything for them, and I know you would too,” they deserve happiness.
They left their horses in the stable for the stable hands to clean and feed and Loki walked with Lilly back to her room in a comfortable silence. When they got to the door to the shared rooms, Loki took Lilly’s hand.
“Thank you for trusting me with them, thank you for giving me a chance,” he brought her hand to his lips and placed a short kiss on the back of her hand. Lilly felt her face heat up and she smiled shyly at Loki.
When he let go of her hand, Lilly leaned forward and placed a kiss on his cheek. When she pulled back, she noticed his eyes were a bit wide, shocked that she would do something like kiss his cheek.
“Good night, Loki,” Lilly said as she disappeared into the apartment.

Lilly was nervous as she readied herself for the dinner with Loki. She had bathed extra long, and used the best smelling body wash she could find. A maid helped her put her hair into beautiful braids, and she dressed herself in a golden gown.
Both the girls were with Frigga walking around the city of Asgard, so Lilly didn’t have to worry about what they would do in the meantime. As the maid brought her to Loki’s private rooms, she found herself getting incredibly nervous. She smoothed out creases in the dress that weren’t there, and wrung her hands as the maid knocked on the door and waited for Loki to answer.
When he did, he was taken aback by how beautiful Lilly looked. Her hair had been braided to the side and the dress she wore reminded him of the golden leaves during the autumn months. He opened the doors wider and allowed her inside his rooms, taking note of how nervous she looked.
Once they were both inside, he closed the doors behind him and turned to see Lilly standing, waiting for him. He gestured to the table and said, “They will bring our dinner up momentarily. For now, let’s get settled.”
He pulled the chair out for Lilly as she sat down before taking the seat directly across from her. The small table was intimate, the two of them not being more than three feet apart.
Loki poured wine for Lilly before giving himself a glass as well. She took it with shaking hands and took a tentative sip, enjoying the taste, and taking another, longer, sip.
“Be easy with that, your Midgardian drinks are nothing compared to what we make here, I fear you will become more intoxicated than I’d hoped with just that glass.” he told her. She looked curiously at the red wine and nodded, putting the glass on the table and looking up at Loki.
The two of them stared at each other in silence, not sure what to say to one another. Once the food had been brought, Lilly cleared her throat and said, “I’m sorry your mother made us have dinner with each other. I know it’s the last thing you wanted to do.”
Loki shifted uncomfortably in his seat, and said, “I understand why she did it. I suppose the girls shouldn’t see their parents fighting. I would like to apologize for the way I behaved at dinner the other night. It was unbecoming of me to accuse you of such falsities instead of hearing your side of the story. I would like to try to get along, for the sake of the twins.”
Lilly nodded, taking in what he was saying. He wanted to be civil with her, that she could do. She didn’t want the girls to see their parents fighting. She nodded once more, “I agree, I’d like to be civil with you, for the girls.”
“Wonderful. I was hoping the four of us could go on an outing. There is a wonderful place to picnic on the east side of the mountain. It would be a nice trip to bring the girls on before autumn hits and the weather gets too cold.”
“That sounds lovely.”
They ate the remainder of their dinners with little conversation, but Lilly was happy. He hadn’t been purposefully cruel to her during their dinner, and she could admit that he looked very good in his black leather tunic and his dark breeches. He looked incredibly relaxed and she was envious of that. She still felt like her hands were shaking so hard, they would come right off.
When they set the date for the picnic outing, the servants had come to collect the dinner plates from them and Lilly finished off her wine.
“Thank you for tonight, Loki. It was one of the best nights I’ve had in years. I don’t get to go out much, and it’s the first dinner I’ve had without the girls in fourteen years.”
“It was my pleasure, Lilly. You’re quite charming when you’re not trying to behead me with your angry words.” He told her with a smile. A genuine smile that made Lilly’s stomach flutter.
Lilly let out a small laugh, “You’re not too bad yourself when you don’t have that death glare going on. You should smile more.”
His smile seemed to widen as he walked her back to her room. He bid her goodnight with a kiss to the back of her hand and she wished him a good night as well. She watched Loki walk down the hall back to his room with a wide smile on her face.
The night went incredibly successfully, and now, seeing as Loki was trying to be kind to her, she was more than happy to tell the girls of the plans they had made.
When Lilly opened the door to her apartment, she was met with Mary, Jenny, and Frigga sitting in the little living room.
“Mom! How was the date?” Jenny asked, looking up from the book that she held in her hands. Mary rolled her eyes and said, “It wasn’t a date. It was just dinner.”
“Yeah! But a dinner date.” Lilly rolled her eyes and said, “It went well, we talked without attempting to kill one another, it was nice.”
Frigga smiled, knowing her plan of getting the two together was working wonderfully.
“Well, then I shall be off. I’ll see you girls in the morning for breakfast and then the beginning of our lessons?” Frigga stood from the couch and both girls nodded.
“Good, see you in the morning. Goodnight.” Frigga left and Lilly sat down next to Jenny on the longer couch.
“How was it?” Jenny asked, leaning against her mother.
“We made plans to go out in a few days. He’s going to take us out riding I believe, and for a picnic. So, you need to behave until then, ok?”
Both girls looked at each other and then back to Lilly, nodding before running off for bed. Lilly smiled, standing up and walking to her room. It had been a good night, and she felt happy. The girls finally had a father, and she was going to do her best to make sure that they welcomed Loki into their family.
Jenny sat on her bed across from her sister, both of them changed for bed and smiling at one another.
“Mom’s happy.” Jenny said, Mary rolled her eyes and said, “Of course she is! She and Loki went out on a date. And we have a father figure, so I know she’s happy about that.”
“Yeah, I know. Do you think it’ll be weird having a Dad? Will he be strict?” Jenny wondered.
“I don’t think so. He’s got magic too, and according to what I’ve read and heard around the city, Loki’s a mischievous man.”
“Must be where we get it from.”
The two smiled at each other, Mary getting off the bed and into her own before the two of them went to sleep.
Loki stood before the fire in his room. He stared into the flames, but his mind was moving at incredible speeds. Although he lost the mother of his children years ago, he not only got both of his daughters back, but also a woman who cared for the girls more than anything else.
He rubbed a hand down his face and sighed, turning for his bed before laying down, magically putting the fire out on his way.
He wasn’t sure what was going to come from the interactions with Lilly, but he knew that he would have to start behaving himself around the girls if he wanted their mother to accept him.

Part One; Part Two; Part Three
Jenny and Mary looked at each other after their Mom left the dining hall. The two could feel Lilly’s sadness, and once the door had closed, signaling that Lilly had actually left, the two girls began to speak to each other.
“Mom’s sad,” Jenny said, poking at the cake, or pie, or whatever passed as dessert here. Mary hummed in agreement, “I know. She doesn’t want to lose us.”
“She wont!”
“But she’s sad that she will. You heard Frigga, we’re immortal now. She’s not like us, she won’t live that long.”
The two girls stared at each other, frowning as everyone else at the table watched.
Loki, on the other hand, had been listening to their conversation, and didn’t completely know what to think of it. He saw Lilly as an impostor. She wasn’t the girls’ mother. In his eyes, she was to them what Odin was to Loki. Although he and Odin had mostly gotten over their issues, Loki still couldn’t bring himself to forgive Odin for lying to him and taking him as a trophy.
But was Lilly trying to do that to the girls? No, he decided. She loved them, and it was obvious that the girls loved Lilly as well. His idea of stealing them away wasn’t going to work, because they would always love Lilly.
After a while of silence, he watched the girls stand. He stood with them, ready to escort them to their room when Frigga motioned for him to remain in the dining hall.
“Good night, girls. Hopefully the three of you can meet me for afternoon tea in my rooms. Loki will bring you.” Frigga told them, watching the girls smile as they left, heading for their room.
Loki frowned at his mother, watching as Odin and Thor left the dinning room and left Frigga seated and Loki standing by his seat.
She motioned for him to sit down, and Loki sat across from her, watching as she raised the glass to sip at her wine. He sighed impatiently and when she put the glass back down on the table, she raised an eyebrow at her son.
“Why do you hate that woman?” she questioned, “She’s been nothing but sweet, and you’re threatening her and making her out to be the bad person.”
“She stole my children-”
“She adopted them. Much like we did with you. It wasn’t Lilly’s fault that she happened to find the girls. I’m so glad that she did because they have a mother. They love her like you love me, and you would take them from her? What if Laufy had come to Odin and demanded you back? What if he had taken you from me?”
Loki sat in silence, not knowing what to say. He hadn’t thought of how he and his relationship with Frigga was, he could only see the relationship that he had with Odin. It was a sour one, one where one child was favored over the other. Loki sat up straighter in his chair and Frigga hummed in approval.
“Exactly. Just because those girls were adopted by someone else doesn’t make you any less their father. I know those girls were talking with each other, telepathically, of course. And it’s true. You will have them for centuries, you will see them through their weddings and the rest of their lives, but she will be lucky if she has a few more decades. I fear Lilly has come to the same conclusion as well.”
Loki’s eyebrows furrowed, and he looked to his mother, ashamed.
“You’re right. Thank you, Mother.” he said, standing from the table and walking off towards the girls’ room. He had every intention of finding Lilly and speaking with her, but as he arrived and made his way towards Lilly’s bedroom, he was surprised with what he found.
Both of the twins had come to Lilly’s room, now sporting clothes easier to sleep in, and both curled around their mother. He noted how Lilly’s eyes seemed puffed and red. She had been crying, perhaps that’s how she had fallen asleep, he though to himself as he closed the door and turned away.
———-
When Lilly woke the next morning, it was to two warm bodies curled around her. She smiled at the sight of Jenny and Mary on either side of her, and carefully moved off the bed, cautious to not wake either of the sleeping girls.
Lilly walked to the bathroom and washed her face, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes and cursing herself for falling asleep crying, seeing as her eyes were still puffy. She splashed more cold water onto her face in hopes that the swelling would go down, and moved on to brushing her hair.
She wandered around the house cleaning up small things until the girls woke up. The two of them walked into the living room, watching Lilly as she cleaned up, tidying up the blankets.
“Good morning, girls. Ready for tea with your grandmother?”
Both girls looked at each other and frowned. Mary walked to Lilly and wrapped her arms around her mother.
“You know we love you, right? More than anything,” Mary mumbled as she pressed herself into Lilly’s shoulder. Lilly returned the hug and said, “I know girls. I’m just sad.”
“We know,” Jenny said, moving beside her sister to hug Lilly as well.
“We won’t let him send you away,” Jenny told her.
“We want you with us, you’re our Mom, how could we not?” Mary finished, both girls looking up to Lilly. Her eyes began to fill with tears at the words of her daughters.
Her daughters, she reminded herself. They were hers just as much as they were Loki’s, maybe even more since she spent all those years raising the girls, helping them come into their powers, and how to not hurt each other with them.
She was there for the first boyfriend, the first break up, and the first real fight between the girls. She knew more about Mary and Jenny than Loki did, and she sure as hell wasn’t going to let him take her girls.
“Come on,” Lilly told the girls, “Let’s go see Frigga.”
The three girls walked down the halls of the palace, somewhat disoriented, but with the help of the guards, they were able to make it to the Queen’s room just before tea was served.
“Ah, girls, welcome! I see you found your own way here?” Frigga asked as the three of them arrived at the tea room. Frigga looked majestic in her robes, as usual, her hair was loose today, in a more relaxed hair style than it was in the last time Lilly saw her.
“I hope you had a good night?” she asked as the girls sat down for tea and sandwiches.
“We did, thank you, Frigga.” Lilly responded as she sat next to the girls. The four of them sat talking about little things, like Asgardian customs and getting the girls to a seamstress to get them fitted for proper ‘princess’ attire.
After the tea was drunk and the girls decided to wander off, Lilly stayed with Frigga to talk.
“I’m sorry that Loki upset you last night,” Frigga apologized, “he’s had a bit of a rough time these past few years. He discovered he was adopted, and he feared the worst when he realized the girls were as well. My husband hasn’t been the best at grooming Loki’s confidence, and he was worried for the girls.”
Lilly frowned at the realization that Loki had been adopted, not only that, but his daughters were as well. She felt bad that he thought the worst about what was happening to the girls, but she also felt angry that he assumed some stranger would be mistreating the girls.
“I appreciate the apology, Frigga. But you don’t have to apologize for Loki’s actions. He does. I understand that the whole adoption thing is a touchy subject for him, but he was threatening to take away my children. They are as much mine as they are his. Although I’ve seen them through teething, potty training, and periods. I think I’ve got him beat.”
Frigga chuckled at this and said, “I suppose a mother’s job is always the most busying. How about I take the girls one afternoon and bring them to the seamstress and you and Loki can talk? I’ll have a dinner prepared for the two of you, and you can discuss the custody of Mary and Jenny.”
Lilly smiled and said, “Thank you, I would like that.”
——————————–
As Lilly left Frigga’s rooms, a smile found it’s way onto the Queen’s face. Her plan of getting the two together was working perfectly. All they needed to do was attend the dinner, and hopefully things would work their way out there.
She had always wanted happiness for her sons, and Loki seemed the hardest to please. She hoped that using the twins, Frigga could bond Loki and Lilly and they could end up happy together.
She just hoped that Loki’s emotions wouldn’t get in the way of her plans.
Imagine being a powerful goddess who is locked away in the dungeons of Asgard. You talk to Loki while he is in the cells. When Odin gets sick, Loki has to take the role as King and is brought out of the cells. After a few weeks, you are released as well. When you are brought before Loki, he tells you he wants a companion and decides that it will be you.

NOTES/WARNINGS: angry dinner talk, sad moments…
The dinner was awkward to say the least. Everyone else held their breath as Loki and Lilly glared at each other from their sides of the table.
“I don’t see why we can’t talk about it now,” Loki demanded, almost leaning across the table to get Lilly’s attention back.
She really didn’t want to have the conversation they were about to have in front of his family and her children, but since he was so damn determined to have it, she was gonna let him have a piece of her mind.
“You want to talk about it now? Alright. I’m not letting you steal my children. I’m staying with them wherever they go to make sure they aren’t going to get hurt. I don’t care if you’re some Prince of the Gods or whatever the hell you are. They are my daughters and you have no right to take them from me!” Lilly let out a shuddering breath as she realized she was clutching to the silverware in her hands so tightly it left imprints in her skin.
She thought her outburst had been enough for Loki, but it only seemed to worsen his temper.
“They are my children by blood! I am their father, and you cannot consider yourself their mother simply because you stole them from me to begin with! They were meant to be raised here, with their mother and their father! I lost fifteen years of their lives, and I won’t miss a minute more! They are staying here and you are leaving once they’ve been settled.”
His harsh words brought tears to her eyes, the thought of never seeing her daughters again nearly broke her heart. Her girls, the ones she raised as her own, the girls she nursed to their teen years, the girls she loved more than anything else in the world.
“You will not take my daughters away from me,” she told him in a terse voice, clenching her fists and glaring at the raven haired prince before her. Her eyes locked onto his blue eyes and they glared at each other.
As Loki opened his mouth to respond, Frigga cleared her throat, which caused the two of them to look over in her direction.
“Loki, Lilly. I do not believe this conversation is one for the dinner table. You will have plenty of time to talk it over after dinner. For now, I’d like to know about my granddaughters.”
Lilly looked back at Loki for a split second, noting how he still looked angry, but something else was lingering. Sadness? She shook her head, no. Loki was an angry man who wanted her gone, why would he be sad?
Frigga spoke to the girls, who were more than happy to talk with the Queen about anything. Lilly smiled at the interaction between the girls and their grandmother. Jenny and Mary never got to know Lilly’s parents, and George’s parents lived out in Texas when he was around, so they never really had grandparents to look up to.
“What about your husband?” Frigga asked Lilly when the girls brought up their ‘Dad’.
“George and I had dated for three years before we decided to get married. We adopted the girls before we got married, and something about it didn’t fit. He said it was either the girls or him, and then I found him with his new girlfriend so I kicked his ass out and I haven’t seen him since.”
“That’s horrible, Lilly. I’m so sorry. Now, the girls tell me that they came into their magic when they turned eight. That must’ve been a shock for you, especially seeing as you are a mortal and have no magic yourself.”
Lilly laughed and said, “It was very shocking. When they turned eight and started being able to move things with their mind I was beyond worried. I thought we were being haunted, but when they confessed to moving things with their mind, I started to figure it out. They were different, magical and I wanted what was best for them, so I helped teach them. I think.”
“Well,” Frigga explained, “most children come into their seidr, or magic, around the girls’ age. Most parents here are accustomed to helping their children, or seeking out someone to help. It’s outstanding that you’ve been able to help them all these years without any seidr of your own.”
Lilly smiled at the praise, feeling herself blush at the Queen’s words. “I just helped when I could. I’m glad they’re here, though. The training they’ll get here is better than none back on Earth.”
“I’m glad you decided to have them come here to learn. We’ve got the best teachers in the galaxy to help them.”
The idle chat went on for the rest of dinner. Questions about what the girls studied in their Midgardian classes and what their favorite activities were. Some were directed to Lilly, simple things like what type of work she did or what she enjoyed doing.
During dinner, the girls absolutely fell in love with Thor. He seemed to be confused with the Midgardian terminology, but when Lilly noticed Loki rolling his eyes every time Thor would question the girls about something menial, like gym, Lilly realized that Thor was only acting stupid to make the girls laugh or feel good.
“So, Frigga,” Mary asked, “Since Loki’s our dad…”
“Does that mean we are immortal? Like you guys?” Jenny finished.
Lilly looked up at Frigga and Odin, who exchanged a quick look before Frigga said, “Yes. Your birth mother, Ivana, was Asgardian, meaning that you two are essentially immortal as well.”
Lilly’s heart dropped when she heard those words. Immortal meant that the girls would live on for centuries longer than she would. She would see them for not even half of their lives and then she’d be gone. Loki would win, and she’d be out of the picture, he’d just have to wait a couple decades before time caught up with her and she would die.
Lilly watched the dessert being brought in and a slice of what looked like pie was set in front of her, but she wasn’t hungry. She felt like she’d never be hungry again. The rest of them laughed and spoke as Lilly watched them.
This is where they belong, something told her. This is their real family, who they were meant to be with, and nothing will change it. Not even you.
She felt like she was about to start crying, or suffocating. Maybe both. She slowly pushed her chair back and smiled to everyone, “If you’ll excuse me, I’m kinda tired, so I’ll retire for the night. It was wonderful meeting you all.”
She barely made it out of the dining room when she felt her face heat up and her eyes start stinging. She made her way back to her room and she closed the door, leaning against it, forehead resting against the cool wood.
She didn’t want to lose her girls, she didn’t want them to watch her wither away and die in sixty years. Lilly shook her head and wiped the tears from her face. She changed into her pajamas and laid down in bed, closing her eyes and letting sleep take her.
Imagine while the rest of the team is on a mission, you and Loki are left home alone. You wander into the kitchen one night to see Loki standing at the cabinet, eating some of the candy you knew had been stored away for the team when they got home.
When you question him about it, Loki merely shrugs, saying he was looking for something sweet to eat, and he had never tried the candy before.

RATING: Teen
NOTES/WARNINGS: None
Lilly put her head in her hands and leaned against the table as she read the latest reports the school had sent home. Jenny and Mary had gotten their third referral from the principal this week and Lilly didn’t think she could take it any longer.
She knew her daughters were prone to mischief, especially when they had turned eight and their magic emerged. It had been a long seven years of learning and understanding their magic, but Lilly had managed to teach the girls to use it for good, and not to hurt anyone or each other with it.
But lately, the fifteen year old girls have been using their magic for mischief, all kinds, including using it to prank the children in their grade and it often ended with Lilly in the principals office.
She had to have a talk with the girls, especially regarding this last “incident” as the principal called it. The two of them had apparently pushed a student in the cafeteria without actually touching him. And they had pushed him so hard the student had fallen from the table and sprained his wrist.
Lilly leaned back in the kitchen chair and waited for the two girls to get home from school. She knew she had to talk with them about their magic, but she didn’t want the girls to feel like using their magic was bad.
Lilly loved that Jenny and Mary were special. She was glad that she had chosen the two of them to adopt instead of just one child, because who knows where the twins might have ended up if Lilly hadn’t adopted them.
The woman at the adoption agency said that the girls had come from up north, no specific address, only that a strange woman called them for help, then never heard from her again. So, Lilly didn’t really have much to tell the girls about their real mother, not that they ever brought it up.
The girls knew they were adopted. They had figured it out when they came into their magic, and Lilly confirmed it, telling them they where her daughters, no matter what. The differences in appearance seemed quite obvious as well, both twins had black hair and green eyes, where Lilly had auburn hair and brown eyes. Both girls had sharper features, their faces holding nearly none of the baby fat they once had, instead they were both already beautiful girls.
Lilly heard the bus stop in front of the house and she sighed. She really didn’t want to confront her children, but they had to be more careful with their magic.
When the door opened, Lilly stood from the table and smiled at the girls as they came in. Jennifer came in first, her long black hair was braided to the side, revealing her pierced ears and the gold necklace she always wore. Marilyn came in behind her sister, closing the door and kicking off her shoes. Her hair was shorter than Jenny’s and liked to keep it at shoulder level instead of how Jenny liked it.
“Hey, Mom,” Mary said as the girls headed for the stairs that would lead them to their room.
“Wait! Can you both come here, please?” Lilly asked, watching the girls give each other a look. Sometimes she swore they could read each other’s minds, because she could practically see the silent conversation happening between the two. Once they were both in the kitchen, Lilly leaned against the counter and crossed her arms.
“Wanna tell me what happened in school today?” She asked, raising her eyebrow as the girls stood awkwardly in the kitchen. A moment of silence fell between them before Mary spoke up, using her soft voice to answer Lilly’s questions.
“Nothing, Mom. Why?” She questioned, her head tilting somewhat to the side as Mary attempted to give her the “innocent eyes” as Lilly liked to call them. Both the girls had mastered the “innocent eyes” and were even better at trying to trick her into believing they were innocent. But, after fifteen years with her girls, she could more or less determine when they were trying to trick her.
“Jennifer? Do you have anything to say? The truth perhaps?” Lilly said. Jenny looked to Mary with a sort of “told you so” look and then looked back to her mom.
“The kid we pushed today was bullying us. We’ve told people that we were adopted and he said that we were freaks and it was a surprise that you haven’t given us up yet.” Jenny explained as Mary looked down at the ground.
“So you used your magic to push him?” Lilly asked, watching both the girls not their heads.
Lilly sighed and stepped forward, “Girls, look at me,” when both of the girls were looking up at Lilly, she took one of Jenny’s hands and one of Mary’s, holding onto them as she spoke.
“You aren’t freaks. You’re special, and I couldn’t ask for better children, because there aren’t any better than you. Your magic makes you special, but you can’t use it like that. What if someone finds out about your magic and takes you away from me? Do you know how heartbroken I’d be if I lost you two?”
She watched the two of them look at each other, then back at Lilly, sadness in their eyes.
“We’re sorry, Momma.” Jenny said as she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Lilly’s waist. Mary joined in too and Lilly sighed, wrapping her arms around her girls.
“I know, honey. Just be more careful. Come to me if there’s a problem, I’ll help you fix it, and I’ll get everything cleared with the principal tomorrow. Now, how about we get a movie going and I’ll order some pizza?”
Both girls squealed with excitement and ran off to the living room to get a movie picked out. Lilly ordered a pizza to be delivered, and once it got to the house, all three of them sat down and enjoyed Jumanji for the hundredth time. By the time the pizza was gone and the movie was over, both girls had fallen asleep on the couch and Lilly wad nearly at the point of dozing off herself.
A knock came from the front door and Lilly frowned, it was almost ten at night. Who would be coming to their house at such a late hour? She stood up and put the paper plates into the pizza box, tossing it in the kitchen before she walked barefoot to the front door.
She looked through the windows beside the door and saw a strange man standing in front of her door. He wore a black tailored suit with green accents and his black hair had been slicked back. Who the hell was this guy?
Lilly unlocked the door and opened it, noticing that the man’s green eyes focused on her the minute it opened. She stood in the doorway, frowning at the stranger.
“Can I help you, sir?” She asked as she crossed her arms and looked him up and down. This stranger was attractive, she could admit that. His black suit was made of fine material, and it was fitted to his body perfectly. He had one hand in the pocket of his trousers, and the other was held out for her to take.
“My name is Loki. I would like to speak to you about the twins.” Lilly looked down at his hand and she took it, shaking it for a second before she said, “What about them?”
“I would like to see them.” He stated, removing his hand from his pocket and crossing the two behind his back. Lilly leaned back and said, “Um, I don’t know who you are, so I don’t feel comfortable letting you see them.”
Anger crossed his face as she spoke and it made her step back and grab the edge of the door. She watched him bring his hands in front of him and a glowing green orb emitted from between his hands. She stopped in the middle of closing the door, she recognized that magic.
“Mom?” She heard from behind her. It was Jenny, standing in the doorway of the living room and the hallway, trying to look past her to see the stranger at the door.
“Who is it?” Mary asked, coming to stand beside her sister. Lilly looked back out the door to see if Loki was still there, but when she turned, he was no longer there. She stepped out to see if he had perhaps left, but when she didn’t see him, she turned around and closed the door, locking it as well.
But when Lilly turned back to see the girls, she jumped when she saw Loki standing between her and the twins.
“Mom?” Mary said, her voice sounded confused and Lilly pushed her way past Loki to stand in front of the girls.
“He has magic, like ours.” Jenny said, stepping to the side of Lilly. She put her hand out and Lilly watched as a light green mist floated around her hands, just like she’s seen come from Loki a few moments ago.
“I’ve come from Asgard to look for my children. A friend of mine tracked them down and I am here to return them to their rightful home.” Loki stated as he watched Jenny move the magic along her arm.
“You’re here to take them?” Lilly asked, disgust evident in her voice and on her face. Both the girls clung to Lilly as they heard why he had come, and she could feel the buzzing of the girls’ magic.
For a second, she could see the shimmering force field around the three of them, then the shimmering disappeared as it settled around them. Loki raised his eyebrow as he noticed how the twins protected their adopted mother.
He tilted his head, slightly confused that the two of them would protect such a stranger to them. He was their father, their blood. Yet they chose to protect the woman with no relation to them? He crossed his hands behind his back again and reached out magically to both of them.
He felt his magic move past their weak force field and he spoke mentally to both the girls.
‘I do not wish to harm any of you. I merely wanted to find my daughters. Your mother left when you were still in her womb. Her dying wish was for me to find you, and I have. I would like to bring you to my home, Asgard, so you may be trained and live the lives you should have had.’
Both girls looked to each other before they communicated back to him.
‘We would like to learn magic…’ Jenny began.
’…but we won’t leave our mother here,’ Mary continued.
Loki sighed, ‘She may come with us to discuss the terms of custody.’
Lilly watched as they had a silent conversation, one that she was dying to be part of. She wanted to know what he was saying to her daughters, and what they were saying back. All she could think about was losing them, and that was something she didn’t want.
When she watched the green shimmering field around them disappear, she turned to the girls and they both grabbed a hand of hers.
“Mom, we think we should go with him, all three of us.” Mary said. Lilly looked to the man in front of them and said, “I’m coming too?”
“They were very insistent that you came along to discuss their stay. So, pack what you wish and we will leave shortly.” He told the women standing in front of him. He was still so shocked by the protectiveness of this woman for his children.
The two girls ran up the stairs to get a bag packed, and Lilly stood in the hall with him.
“I never got your name,” Loki stated as he watched Lilly try to cope with what was actually happening.
“It’s Lilly,” she told him, “and I didn’t get much a chance to tell you before you demanded to take my children.”
Loki sighed and said, “If I wanted go make this difficult for you, I could’ve just taken them. From school, from the bus, even from here when you were all asleep. I figured this was going to be the best way to gain their trust.”
Lilly crossed her arms and said, “I’m not going to leave them. They’re my children. So however long they stay in Asgard or wherever you’re taking them, I’m coming too. And I’m not leaving without them.”
“They are not yours by blood.” He stated.
“But it doesn’t make us any less of a family.” She argued.
This caused him to frown. The furrowing of his eyebrows looked quite cute on him, Lilly observed as she watched him. She would’ve even said he was attractive had it not been for the fact he was trying to steal her children.
Lilly turned to walk up the stairs, and before she made it all the way to the top, she called down to him to make himself comfortable. She didn’t know if he truly would, or if he would end up standing in the front hallway until all three girls were ready to leave.
Lilly had gotten a bag packed of random clothes, hoping the weather in Asgard wouldn’t be too different from the spring they were currently experiencing. She made a few phone calls, one to the school board, saying the twins were taking a few weeks off from school, and one to her job, telling them she needed her vacation days early for a family emergency.
Once she had her bag packed, she met the girls down in the living room, where Loki had taken it upon himself to wander around and look at things, picking them up and looking at them. Like the family picture of the three of them at the beach last summer. Or the one where the girls were still babies and George was still around.
She saw him take particular interest in the picture with George and rolled her eyes. When he sensed she was in the room with him, he turned and asked her who he was to the girls.
“That’s George, my ex. We adopted the girls together. When they turned two, he got fed up and went off with his girlfriend. We got a divorce and I get child support checks until they turn sixteen, as requested by him in court.”
He hummed in response and put down the picture, turning instead to walk out the front door, motioning for us to follow him. Lilly followed, locking up behind them, then catching up to the three.
Loki stopped to stand in the middle of the road and gathered everyone closely together. He looked up and shouted to the sky.
“Heimdall! Open the Bifrost!”
For a moment nothing happened, then there was a loud popping noise and a large beam of light was emitted by the sky.
“I suggest you hold on,” Loki said as he smiled at the three startled women. The twins grabbed onto his sleeve and Lilly locked her arms around the two girls, focusing more on keeping them safe.
The next thing they knew, their feet were swept off the ground and they were flying through space. Lilly only got to see a second of it before her feet were planted firmly on the ground again. She caught Jenny before she fell and watched Loki smirk at the distortion the three of them felt.
Lilly looked around, noting they were in a large, golden dome. She saw a man standing atop a small golden platform, and she realized this must be Heimdall. He was a giant man wearing all gold, which seemed to contrast marvelously against his dark skin.
“Welcome to Asgard.” He said in a deep, rumbling voice. Lilly nodded in thanks and the girls quickly moved to hide behind their mother.
“Come,” Loki said, bringing them to the entrance of the dome. When the walls shifted enough for them to get out, Lilly stated in awe at the golden city before her.
Loki turned to face the twins and he smiled as he spoke.
