157 years ago, White Antelope was shot in front of his home while wearing a Presidential medal of Peace and flying the American flag 🇺🇸
He was murdered on the command of Colonel Chivington, who led the 1st and 3rd Colorado Calvary, during the now infamous Sand Creek Massacre. 250-300 women and children were killed and mutilated during the unprovoked raid on White Antelope’s encampment, in one of the worst mass shootings in US history.
Nothing lives long, only The Earth, and the mountains.

I remember some years ago, it may even have been ten years ago, I came across a website or blog and it talked about a stop-motion (or maybe half stop-motion, half live-action) film about a caveman and a white antelope, and I remember two screenshots of the film, one featuring said antelope and the other featuring said caveman, who had jutting brows and an ape-like face.
Even though I didn't look further into it, for some reason something about it stuck with me. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find that page since, and I swear to God I didn't dream it, and I swear this isn't some kind of Saki Sanobashi type thing either (though it has somewhat become my own personal Saki Sanobashi).
It has stuck with me so much so that I've even thought of trying to make the film myself, even though as I said I remember nothing more than the caveman and the antelope.
Addax (White Antelope) by goassaf
Awesome Animal! The White Antelope or the Addax (Addax nasomaculatus) can be seen at many zoos, but in their wild home in the Sahara, they are extremely rare. These beautiful creatures are classified as Critically Endangered, and only a few hundred individuals remain in the wild. :(
Addax
The addax (Addax nasomaculatus), also known as the white antelope and the screwhorn antelope, is an antelope that lives in the Sahara desert. It was first described in 1816. As suggested by its alternative name, this pale antelope has long, twisted horns - typically 22 to 33 inches long. It differs from other antelopes by having large, square teeth like cattle, and lacking the typical facial glands. The addax is a critically endangered species, as classified by the IUCN. The addax was once abundant in North Africa, native to Chad, Mauritania and Niger. It is extinct in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Sudan and Western Sahara. It has been reintroduced in Morocco and Tunisia. Although extremely rare in its native habitat due to unregulated hunting, it is quite common in captivity.
