14. Overkill - White Devil Armory

Overkill makes it their third killer record in a row with White Devil Armory, which fits right in next to Ironbound and The Electric Age as a full-on thrash assault. Blitz still sounds as good as ever, D.D. rips it up on bass, and the riffs are up with the band's best, but Ron Lipnicki's drumming steals the show. Beyond Hoglan and Hunting (and maybe Bostaph), I can't think of a better thrash drummer going now. I've been high on his skills for a while now, and his work here is certainly his best.

There isn't a whole lot new here, but when it's done this well by a band that has been at it this long, you just need to sit back and enjoy the ride. Overkill don't try to be more than what they are, and that is an extremely tight thrash band that continues to show the new kids how it's done 30+ years on.
