Essex Street. Salem.
My heart is numb The feeling that I get from The way you shake your voice And curse this bitter love And oh, it's cold Living in a fallen home We were just kids back then Too scared to be alone You leave me in the dark Recounting all my sins You put words in my mouth But who is gonna mend These white fences?
Needtobreathe, "White Fences"
Exactly a year ago I rode Dublin for the very time! This is still one of my favorite photos, and its from our first show! I love this horse more than words.
NEEDTOBREATHE - White Fences (Lyrics)
I hope I do this right. Embedding things is tricky.
It’s been just over 18 months since my dad passed - believe me, I still mark it by the month - so I suppose I’ve been a bit more reflective. I feel like we reconciled while he was still alive, and I’m grateful for that. But I also don’t sugarcoat the fact that things were bad for a long, long time. I had my fair share of “angry dad jams” growing up. And some were just stupid and don’t bother me (”Just Like You” by Three Days Grace), while others are totally gut wrenching and I am pretty certain I will never even attempt to listen to them again (”Open Wounds” by Skillet). Anyway, not long ago I heard this song and it gave me chills. And it’s since been an important part of attempted healing. It’s honest without being vengeful. I can sing along without crying - most of the time. My legs [were] unsteadied by The way you close[d] your eyes Wish we could hit rewind
