Aspects of Sourcery

Hope- white science Rage- ...Black Magic? >:)
Sure ^u^ I think that’s a lens you could look at them through, especially given Gamzee *nods nods*
Gamzee’s more religious, obvsl, but his interest in and focus on “Miracles” could be shared by a more secular Rage Player through an interest in Magic(whether Stage or Fantastical), with a similar distaste for people “Ruining it” with rational explanations, or running it down as “Fake” or “Childish” or whatever.
But I think it’s important to keep in mind that this isn’t the only opposition to Eridan’s Hopey “White Science” that’s possible. The Aspects aren’t a set of rigid binaries; rather reality, and all its pieces, are a mutually reinforcing Whole, divided and ordered into particular systems of relation by particular perspectives. It’s been awhile so I might be misremembering, but even in the text it is Rose and her Goth expression of Light within her Session which Eridan directly decides to conceive of as the “black magic” opposite of his “white science”. And, stacking ironies, he chooses to go to Kanaya for his “science stick” specifically Because she’s been the one helping Rose; so both the “black magic” Light and the “white science” Hope within pre-Cascade Homestuck share a partial source through Kanaya and Space(which, chromatically, is both black AND white). Opposites in Unity, and only made into Opposites by the biased perspective of a single, romantically-thwarted boy.
You could also go with Void! In fact, Void probably has the shortest and most direct conceptual line to “black magic”, since Void is directly represented by black in at least two ways(it’s symbol is dark-blue on black, and it’s repeatedly tied to The Furthest Ring; an infinite black metaspace), and consistently associated with magic by Roxy.
The important thing would be that “black magic” be an important concept to whichever character, of whichever Class and Aspect, makes use of it. That, not philosophical Ideal(Conceptual) similarities, is what really ties Aspect to Expression. All the “Powers” we see, even the alchemized items, have their true source in the Players themselves(rather than in Metaphysics), and the particular way that they manifest depends on the perspectives and interests of those Players. Or at least, that’s how I read it :p :p
It’s march and you all know what that means!!
