Sirius Black: What He Did

*On Halloween, 1981* 

Sirius: No! James and Lily are dead! I have to take care of their son! Hagrid! Please give me my godson so I can take care of him! 

Hagrid: Nope, Dumbledore said to grab him, so I am. 

Sirius: Well, I want to argue about that, but- Wormtail! Nobody knows he’s a traitor! Hagrid and Dumbledore can keep Harry safe! I’ve got to stop Wormtail before he causes more harm! 

*12 Years Later, in Azkaban* 

Sirius: Long day of remembering finding James and Lily’s bodies over and over again. 

Sirius: Oh look, finally got my hands on a newspaper. Twelve years, that’s a long time. Wait, that picture- that’s Wormtail! He’s on the shoulder of a kid! A kid who goes to Hogwarts! Wait, Harry’s old enough to go to Hogwarts! Harry’s in danger from Wormtail! I’m coming, Harry! 

*After escaping at end of PoA* 

Sirius: Finally made it to Bolivia. Thank Merlin it doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Britain. 

Sirius: Yup, this is what I needed. Sunshine, some medicine, good food, and no dementors- Oh, Harry’s latest letter! Thanks, Hedwig. 

Sirius: ... What?! A nightmare! His scar’s hurting! I’m coming, Harry! 

*Makes it back to Britain* 

Sirius: Ok, got everything I need to survive while keeping an eye on Harry. A cave to hide in, Buckbeak’s comfortable, newspapers to steal, rats to eat. I am all set up to stay for the entire year. 

*Voldemort comes back* 

Sirius: Things are really starting to get bad. But at least I don’t have to- wait. The Order needs a secret base... I have a house I completely despise and that’s full of bad memories that may or may not trigger flashbacks of my traumatic childhood... Hey, guys! I know where the Order can stay! 

*Day of Department of Mysteries battle* 

Sirius: Man, Buckbeak’s hurt pretty bad. Hope he feels better soon. Haven’t gotten a call from Harry. Maybe he’s worried I’ll come charging up to Hogwarts if he mentions Snape hurting him... I mean, I would, but the assumption is rude. Hm, probably should’ve explained what that package was better- what?! Harry’s walking into a trap at the Ministry? I’m coming, Harry!
