"Excuse me?" he raised a brow sharper than a razor blade, "I said, excuse me?" the eyes beneath the brows glared in a fashion that defied you to look away.

He smiled humourlessly as he realised he now had your full attention, "There we are, that's better isn't it? Good, good..." he paused, relishing your discomfort a moment, "Tell me, is there a reason you happened to come by & read this? You know, there you were scrolling mindlessly, as you do, then you stopped.  Instead of blinking & moving on, here you are participating in, to what all intents & purposes is, a one-sided conversation." a slight twinkle could be seen in the man's eye as he raised a finger, "Or is it?"

"Perhaps," he began to pace, left to right & back again, "we were meant to meet? Destiny!" he said this last with a theatrical air, "in all of space & time, it was inevitable that you & I would cross paths, because you see, we have a job to do.  Oh yes." he turned away in thought briefly, then whirled back, a grin on his well-worn features, "Have you got what it takes? Have the fates sent me the right one? Tell me," he asked again & stressed, "show me, that I'm in the right place, at the right time."
