Trick or Treat! :)
You get a TREAT :)
This one is a charm for wishing on a star.
I find this is a very useful and very simple piece of magic. And it's especially appropriate with the Draconid meteor shower that is currently going on this week!
All there is to do is find a bright (or shooting) star, focus on your wish and say the words:
"Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight."
The words are from a common American nursery rhyme. I think I first saw it in Disney's Pinnochio (1940) and it always stuck with me. I used it to wish on a shooting star to get into a university that I didn't think I had a chance with—but I ended up getting in!
So have fun, be sure to embrace your inner childhood whimsy and may all your wishes come true :)
I just wanted to thank you for this blog. A long time ago on a platform far, far away, my handle was "Defiant Optimist." A few years ago I stopped using that handle because it didn't feel right any longer. Until today when I found your blog, I didn't realize how badly I needed a reminder that hope is a choice and it's one worth making even when it doesn't feel right (perhaps especially then). Thanks for being a candle in the darkness.
I'm glad I could help you reignite that spark you once held.

@writedragon - sorry, I accidentally hit Return in the middle of typing up my reply, so I’m going to have to do the rest of it here. I don’t know what it’s like today, and how much of the old fic survives, but back in the day, hooo boy, was there ever shippy fic about the main characters. Reams and reams of it! So, I’m not sure I’d agree with that particular take! I think a perceived dearth of fic of that type (as well as of FS fic in general) is probably more due to the fact that it was a very long time ago (what’s 20 years in fandom years, a century? ;-)), and many writers’ websites and fanfic archives have long since disappeared. This was years before AO3, after all.
(I’d assume there’s still a fair bit of stuff on fanfiction.net, actually. But most of the fic was in fandom-specific archives, or on mailing lists, forums, livejournal, and on individual writers’ sites, back then. So that is mostly gone.)
ETA: One archive is still around: http://www.shriftweb.org/leviathan/
Why I love B99: The diversity of the show (race, gender, sexuality, religion) AND how that diversity is normalized. It's just the way things are -- and it's so REAL. I love that!!
♥♥♥ I love how this reason comes back a lot from different people :’))) Thank you for your input!!!
writedragon replied to your post “hey tumblr, I wanna do like a communally-generated Frannie Vecchio...”
Lizzo - Juice. Because Frannie is amazing and she knows it, and doesn't understand why everyone else (especially) Benton can't see that. *blows hair off forehead*
aaaahh, this is an AWESOME Frannie song, thank you!!
