I don't know why, but hardcore Marvel fans sometimes seem to be a lot more vitriolic than people who like DC. I mean, I enjoy both comic companies (though I definitely prefer DC), but from what I've seen and read, DC fans generally just talk about DC material, while people who like Marvel more frequently insult DC. Even among my friends that's how it is. It's just comics! Can't people just like something without insulting something else?
I've noticed this too! I have absolutely zero hatred towards Marvel but anytime I say that I'm not interested in reading any of their comics or watching their films the Marvel fans come crawling out of the woodwork to get angry with me. I could care less if another person likes DC or not because I like it and that's enough for me, but some people just get soooooo upset when another person doesn't like the same thing as them.
I mean, shit, just read what makes you happy! It should be as simple as that.
I'm curious about what you think of Sean Pertwee's portrayal of Alfred on the new Gotham show. I've watched both episodes, and I am really enjoying it so far, but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed at how impatient (and a bit rude) Alfred seems to be with Bruce. Perhaps I'm just not used to this incarnation of the character yet, but I usually prefer Alfred be more proper and composed, a la Batman: The Animated Series. (By the way, I love your blog so much! Definitely my favorite Batman blog!)
I want to like Alfred, but eh...I'm with you. I'm very disappointed in Alfred so far. I understand that Gotham is trying to create their own versions of the characters and I can respect that, but Alfred just seems so glaringly out-of-character to me. Like you said, Alfred is supposed to be prim and proper and effortlessly composed, and Gotham's Alfred seems to be a bit uncouth and rough around the edges. I was legitimately shocked when I saw him shake Bruce and call him a "stupid little boy". I don't doubt that he loves Bruce and I'm sure that it pained him to see the kid harming himself, but I think it would have been a more characteristic reaction for Alfred to calmly say that he'll tend to the burn and that he didn't want to see Bruce do it again, or even maybe give him a hug, or, I dunno, ANYTHING but shaking him and calling him stupid.
I gave the "oi Master Bruce, get your bloody ass down from there!" line from the first episode a pass because a.) it was funny to hear Alfred say "ass" and b.) I thought maybe they were just trying to make this Alfred a little less cordial and little more relaxed, which I would have been okay with. But if we're going to keep seeing such drastically OOC moments as the candle scene in episode two, then I'm afraid that I'm probably not going to like this portrayal of Alfred very much.
And what was up with Alfred refusing to take Bruce to a mental health professional because Thomas Wayne was firmly against it? Were the Waynes members of the Church of Scientology or something? If I'm being totally honest, that scene made them both sound ignorant. :/
I dunno, I'm really trying to not be too hard on Gotham because I like the show a lot and I want it to succeed and normally I can be pretty lax about depictions taking liberties here and there to make them more "personalized", but I am just not digging what they've done to Alfred.

I read in the tags for the Batfleck image that you said the veins on the suit were grossing you out. I saw a higher res, lighter version of the image and the veins are actually seams and creases in the suit! So it doesn't look grossly anatomical, haha.
You're right! That makes me feel a LOT better, haha. I would rather see nipples on the Batsuit than bulging veins, ewwww.

YESSS. I mean, it's Wonder Woman--she fights alongside men, is just as powerful (if not more) than most of the Justice League, and preaches about female empowerment. But apparently that's an awful thing and we dare not taint Diana with such a dirty word!

1. Favourite childhood game?
I remember playing this game at school called Four Square maybe? There was a square divided in four sections and each person was in a corner and there was a ball and you passed back and forth calling different rules for the round.
2. Your best moment from last year?
Quitting my job and moving to Florida. Followed closely by finding a new job. Being unemployed is stressful.
3. A moment or person that changed your life in some way?
These are hard questions! Probably meeting my love. My life has changed and grown so much since meeting him. We have lived together, lived 14 hours apart, moved to three/four states before finally figuring things out. He's helped me grow so much as a person and is incredibly supportive.
4. Has the internet and the people on it had more of an affect on you than you thought it would?
The internet has definitely influenced me and I love it. I didn't realize how addicted I was until I went to DragonCon last year and didn't have access for 4 days. I would love to get to know more people on tumblr and become closer to people in the community.
5. If you could go back to your childhood and live through some of those days again, would you?
No. I didn't have a terrible childhood, but there was a lot of bullying and a lot of awkwardness and we can just keep that there.
6. Best piece of advice you could give your childhood self?
Don't be so introverted.
7. One moment from a fandom you wish you could change?
I have been lucky enough that I haven't been caught in any drama in any fandom. But watching it from the sidelines is just as cringeworthy. I just want people to respect other people's privacy.

It's truly worth stepping out of your comfort zone and do shit you just want to do, but are too scared to do it. It always pays off.

Whaaat? Resident Evil 4 and 5 are super fun.
Yup- I've played maybe an hour of 5 and thats it. Just couldn't really get into it. I think I might have played a couple of mins of the earlier ones, but got frustrated with the controls or something stupid like that
