okay so i see two completely different crossover paths for this xover and that is either the TFP cast in the TF2 universe or vice-versa. for the first you could come up with some "oh the groundbridge malfunctioned" plot device, and for tf2 in the Prime 'verse you could use the teleporters malfunctioning or like a random merasmus spell idk lmao
i am actually so unwell about crossovers between my interests btw. i live for crossovers lol.
anyways for tf2 -> Prime, i can see them getting involved by spawning into the desert or something and coming across some of the team prime bots. idk how it'd work i'm focusing more on character interactions in my head rn.
i think it would be incredibly funny for the autobots to experience more adult humans but instead of being normal they're, well. the mercs. not really.. sane by most measures. i also think it would be incredibly funny for the 'cons to experience the mercs for the same reason, most of their human interaction is three children, one of the kid's moms, a tired government worker, and silas. the mercs would be a whole new experience in a way that i think would be really really funny and also because of medic/australium/plot armor/rule of funny the mercs are like fucking cockroaches that don't die, always coming through unscathed or popping up again later like nothing happened.
i can particularly envision soldier and medic as they tend to be the most unhinged & outgoing ones that would unsettle people immediately.
I like the slow horror of engie in this situation, though, as an engineer who is extremely smart and well-versed in machinery i think he would firstly catch on quickly to a lot of advanced cybertronian biology and then have some sort of vested interest in getting cybertronian mechanics (the corpse of a 'con drone, maybe) to experiment with for his machines. I think it would be different enough from Silas that it would be wayyy more unnerving, especially with his southern hospitality and initial unthreatening demeanor. i can see him jumping into some conversation between the 'bots sometime and casually saying something that makes him sound like the most terrifying mad doctor straight out of a horror flick to the 'bots. On a different note I think Raf would really admire engineer, and i think engie would be flattered to have a kid that appreciates his work and wants to learn from him. once ratchet gets past the mechanical horror stuff i think they'd have absolutely weird but good conversations. they'd have to be forcibly separated because they'll stay up over 24 hours straight talking.
i think scout and smokescreen would get along so so well. scout would ABSOLUTELY get smokescreen into Tom Jones and they'd have discussions lasting hours about his songs. scout would also 100% try and flirt with June (unsucessfully). I can also see scout getting really competitive with miko over video games, but (mostly) in good fun. i think miko would love having someone who is willing to enthusiastically be loud and obnoxious with her, and also i think they'd draw together. I also see scout enjoying bee's company, but not as much as smokescreen. I think he would enjoy hanging out with the kids as they could kind of remind him of his brothers. for once in his life he gets to act as the older brother, which i think he'd love.
i totally see heavy and bulkhead, but i can also see heavy and optimus getting along. i think heavy would respect optimus in a lot of ways, and would be able to connect well with him over shared interest and history. They'd probably get into very deep conversations about philosophy, literature, human culture, and their respective histories. I think heavy would also appreciate optimus's (and bulkhead's) strength, and their guns of course. Obviously nothing is better than Sascha, but the autobot's guns are still impressive.
Regarding bulkhead, i think he would be really interested with heavy because of his physical strength. heavy is totally unlike every other human bulkhead has interacted with, and i think he'd be really interested in heavy for his gun knowledge and feats of strength. i can see bulkhead stealing wrenches from ratchet to see if heavy can bend them or something (and then bulkhead would get chased around by ratchet for the next hour while heavy would apologize because bulkhead didn't tell him that they were the doctor's wrenches).
as previously mentioned spy would get along famously with knockout most likely. He's harder to match up with a Team Prime member because there's none that fully fit his interests, but I think he would also get along with arcee and optimus. I can also see him eventually appreciating bumblebee's work as a scout, though i think it would take him awhile to realize bee's skills underneath his first impression of bee's upbeat and silly personality. oh also for the 'cons i think spy would be fascinated with soundwave.
i kind of disagree with sniper and soundwave but that's honestly probably the most given pairing with sniper tbh. Personally i think that sniper wouldn't really get along the best with soundwave because of soundwave's more spy-like tendencies, though i think he'd respect soundwave's professionalism. For team prime, i think sniper would probably be a total wallflower and would likely interact when one of the mercs drags him into the conversation. If he was there long enough, though, i can see him getting along with arcee for her general levelheaded personality and sarcastic/dry sense of humor. I think he would also appreciate ratchet, though i don't think he'd interact so much. I can see jack looking up to sniper though, thinking he's super cool or whatever. I think sniper would also hunt a lizard or something in the base sometime and kinda freak out everyone (in a lighthearted, funny way) because ewww that's a lizard and you just killed it and cooked it!! or something like that.
ooohohoho medic. i love medic. he would absolutely grate on ratchet's nerves because of his loud, upbeat personality and constant questions. he'd be up in ratchet's personal space as often as possible. I think he'd be fascinated alongside engineer at the idea of mechanical anatomy and organs, but he'd be more interested in experimenting with it like how he does with organic organisms rather than engie's more machine-oriented focus. I think medic would be really interested in the idea of creating new organs or synthetic things like the SynthEn, and/or finding out if it's possible/what happens if you add organic organs to a cybertronian. I think first impressions of him by the 'bots would be that he's loud and silly but just a human medic, but he'd mention something really out-of-pocket or ask a really weird question about cybertronian anatomy and they'd all Understand that okay, this guy is not Normal and Should We Be Scared?
I also think that the exact same thing would happen with the 'cons if for some reason medic was captured and taken onboard the nemesis. they would absolutely underestimate him and then he'd disturb the shit out of them. i think he'd get along well with knockout though, relating to his doctor side unlike spy. I think knockout would really like having another doctor to talk to who actually gets him so much, unethical practices and all.
MISSPAULIGN TIME!!!! god i love miss pauling tf2. anyways! i think you're right on point with her and arcee getting along, and like I said i think she'd get along with fowler as well. I think she'd also be good friends with June, and i can see june mom-ing her by making sure she gets good sleep and isn't stressing too much over their situation. I think optimus would also care a lot about pauling because i think she'd get stressed over how they're going to get back to their universe and what Admin will think once they return and he would try to comfort her (probably a lot more effective than spy was in the comics lol).
demo i think would get along really well with the entire team tbh. he has the smarts to relate to Raf, he has that chaotic streak that miko relates to, and he's another really cool guy that i can see jack admiring. Their personalities aren't a perfect 100% match of course but I can also see him and fowler getting along fantastic, maybe going out some friday or saturday night to go drink and play pool at a local pub or something. He would absolutely love wheeljack though, and it would be a mutual interest. i think wheeljack would make him an honorary wrecker, and they would totally go to remote locations to set off bombs for fun. I think they'd trade bomb recipes and would also conspire together to come up with new ones that they'd test. They come back to base covered in black soot like in a cartoon and ratchet just groans.
ohh my god pyro would be having the time of their life. You're so right about bumblebee and i also see them getting along swell with smokescreen. i think pyro would unsettle most people though, which is something pyro seems to get often. I think miko would be obsessed with them though, sees them as totally metal and would get them to play guitar with her and they'd spend time with scout and miko drawing together. miko would also join pyro in putting stickers on everything. they'd make good campfires in the desert outside the base and help the kids and their teammates make smores.
soldier would be really interesting, and i think you're totally correct about him instantly gravitating towards anyone who's red white and blue. I think he'd try to connect with smokescreen but fail because of smokescreen's less professional overall nature. Soldier would probably be obsessed with Optimus and Ultra Magnus, which I think would be really funny because Magnus is this rule-following, formal guy and soldier... makes his own rules and follows them, and is incredibly loud and explosive (literally and figuratively). I think Magnus would be kind of offended at soldier's false understanding of military standards for a while, but i think he'd write it off as just a slightly irritating character trait after a bit, especially after talking with the other mercs. I think he'd really freak everyone out with his tendency to whip out his shovel or rocket launcher for everything. he'd also definitely have at least one of his raccoons with him, which makes ratchet very upset and concerned lmao. I think that soldier would also get along with wheeljack alongside demo, and would go with them to explode stuff. I can see jackie and demo laying out their bombs and backing off, and then soldier sets them off for them by firing a rocket at the explosives for Maximum Boom.
Overall I think it would be super interesting and Very Wacky, as often happens with the mercs. I love the idea of the mercs occasionally bringing up weird inside jokes or references that bewilder everyone else and leave them really concerned. Like demo (and medic) having to explain his haunted eye socket and monoculus and merasmus by proxy, or them all telling the story of Mann vs Machine-time warfare and the robots they had to fight (basically retelling comic plotlines).
Anyways i'm gonna wrap this up for now because i'm out of coherent-sounding writing, but yeah. i gotta lot of ideas about this lol.

I don’t know the difference between a novelty tee and a graphic tee BUT he DEFINITELY got Demo and Solly matching “I’m with Stupid” t-shirts. they have arrows so that you stand next to each other and the arrows point at each other but they regularly stand the wrong way. nobody knows if it’s on purpose or not
Sniper’s is one of those fishing ones, something something “master baiter”
Pauling’s is “I went to (names of 50 different places she’s all been to for work) and all I got was this lousy shirt”
Medic’s is one of those oddly specific ones that’s just batshit insane and weirdly detailed and yet somehow actually applies to him. probably something to do with never trusting German tourists
Heavy’s says “Yes I’m tall, you’re very observant, the weather is nice up here, good talk, bye” (it’s an actual shirt(that I don’t own bc I’m short)), he likes it and thinks it’s funny
Scout’s is one of those ones where it has some math problem and says “find x” and the x is circled with a label that says “it’s right here”
Pyro’s says “autism be damned, my boy can work a grill” and you can’t tell me I’m wrong
Spy’s is blank on the front, but on the back it has an image that makes it look like he’s been stabbed and text that says “I’m fine”. he claims he hates it, but it always ends up in the dirty laundry pile by the end of a ceasefire
I’m not sure what Merasmus’ and Admin’s would say, but they’d be about Halloween/souls and being old respectively
