I’ve always been the type to make and keep connections. With places, people, objects. Relationships mean a lot to me and I can’t really remember a time in my life where they didn’t. I guess it all correlates to how things make me feel; if it stirs up my emotions, even for a second, boom–I’m connected. And everything is so deeply rooted; maybe that’s the reason why there are some points in time where I need to shut myself away and regroup. Too many emotions means too many connections that create leeches out of shit that shouldn’t stick…but I digress. The point is, lately, I’ve been mouthing “fuck it” towards a LOT of shit that I used* to feel so connected to. It scared me at first, since I’m being honest. “Friends” started slipping away, hobbies I love seemed boring and things I liked to do before just didn’t measure up anymore. I thought it was me. I thought I was fucked in the head somewhere, screws loose, what have you. But I realized, I wasn’t* sadder, morose. I actually felt better than I had in a long, long time. I think God must’ve heard me ask him to bring me change, make me better. & now, I’m genuinely the happiest I’ve ever been. I hang out with people who share the same mindset as me, who accomplish shit. They push me to go beyond what I feel like I can do. We go places I’ve never been and explore new situations and experiences. I do things that get me further instead of leaving me stagnant and disappointed in hindsight. I still have my fun, too. & I even enjoy the things I left collecting dust in the corners of my life. What I’m trying to say is, if you ever get to a point similar to what I described, LET THE NECESSARY SHIT OCCUR. Gooooo with it, breathe in the change of scenery and don’t question a damn thing. Even if you don’t understand it at first, just let it happen. Please. Everything, every single thing, happens for a reason and what/who you’re surrounded by now may very well be inadvertently blocking the good shit from smacking you upside the head.
