"i know it hurts, just hold on a few more minutes, i'm almost done." whumper's breath is hot on whumpee's skin. "deep breaths now, alright?"

caretaker's hands shake as they dial whumpee's number.

"come on, come on, come on," they hold their phone to their ear, "pick up, whumpee. pick up."

"hello?" whumpee's weary voice comes from the other side of the phone. "caretaker?"

"oh, whumpee. sorry i woke you up. i'm just- i had a dream that you..."

"oh," whumpee sighs softly. "i'm alright, caretaker. i promise. i'm fine"

"you're going to break soon, whumpee, i can tell." whumper swipes a strand of hair out of their face, "it's okay. you can do it. it'll be easier if you do."

"it hurts so much," whumpee cries, fingernails digging into caretaker's hand.

"shh," caretaker soothes, combing the hair out of whumpee's sweaty face. "it's almost over, just a little longer, i promise."

vampire whumpee is taken into captivity, bound and starved of blood by whumper for days, maybe weeks on end. the hunger drives them so mad that by the time someone arrives and frees them, they can't hold back from attacking the closest warm object - which happens to be caretaker/ rescuer.

whumpee manages to stop drinking early enough to leave rescuer alive, and they both escape and recover physically. however, whumpee is wracked with guilt, disgusted and horrified with themself. they can't even look rescuer in the eye. they can't bring themself to look at the lingering fear in their gaze, even if rescuer tries to tell them it wasn't their fault or they weren't in their right mind. whumper was right; they really are a monster.

and they can keep it up until caretaker, the only person who can really get through to them, pushes the medics away and stands in front of whumpee, strong enough for the both of them, and whumpee breaks

they fall against caretaker, face buried in their chest and sob.
