Feels great when large "queer" accounts don't say anything about ace week at all but I remember them celebrating lesbian visibility day.
It makes me wonder, are they a queer account, or a gay account :/
The vibe tonight: listening to music and scrolling through tumblr while having a mental breakdown about being completely useless at writing--the one hobby I am good at--now in the groupchat ^-^
'#hate this caption but great gifs' dont reblog then ? what
Seeing that someone I was really close with on here at one point deactivated makes me very sad. Seeing that they changed their name before doing so though just makes me very confused.
Dear listener, you’ll never find me dancing for more than two adjacent seconds without the euphoric assistance of some form of potent alcoholic beverage, preferably a tequila concoction of some kind. As such, I tend to stay away from dance music entirely unless I find it intellectually or in some other way stimulating. I don’t promote a hell of a lot of techno or electro on my page because I think a lot of it sounds the same. Also, being as white as a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream doesn’t make me feel instantly at ease about regularly getting down to Latin, hip-hop, or even funk… even though I like and respect them all. When it comes to the dance genre, I’m a troubled individual, which is why I reach for the true audio oddities within the amorphous void. When I’m jonesing for some smart and intriguing dance music, I often put on some ADULT. They aren’t very well known, and you’re never going to hear their artistic and experimental approach to music tearing up the greatest hit charts. However, this duo excels at modern synth compositions, combines it with punk and synth-pop, and adds a cerebral lyrical style to the mix which always keeps me interested in what they’re doing next. Directly above, you’ll find the music video for Our Bodies Weren’t Wrong from their 2022 album Becoming Undone. Below I’ve got a few more details, thanks for joining me for some more music in 2025!
Intense, introspective and innovative… ADULT. makes music specifically tailored for artistic eccentrics like me who are unapologetically strange and constantly inwardly anxious. Hailing from Detroit, MI, this duo’s members are a pair of educated artists who also happen to be husband and wife. Wife Nicola Kuperus brings deadpan vocals and photography to the table, and husband Adam Lee Miller bears the bulk of the instrumental/sound design burden. The noise they make together is very often urgent and discomforting, but also occasionally humorous and fully capable of providing an epiphany to those that listen to the lyrics closely. Their nearly three-decade frame of work highlights extremely dark themes, and an experimental blend of punk infused electro-techno bent on a high degree of intelligence, hyper awareness, and a downright analytical approach to lyrical composition that far transcends the throw-away quality of popular modern music. While not a household name, this duo has been well known in the techno-underground worldwide for over two decades for their abilities at pushing the envelope and delivering a tone and message that is genuinely sincere in terms of uncooked human emotion and thoughtful interpretations of the harsh reality we all exist within. Oftentimes touching upon the nerves of urban decay, interpersonal social tensions, isolation and death, this duo tackles uncomfortable societal issues with the greatest of ease and a raw elegance that is second to none in modern dance. While undoubtedly American in origin, their music was oddly originally embraced by foreigners, with their first major tours punctuated by numerous European visitations in the early 2000’s. They tend to shy away from any mainstream spotlight as they probably realize their tunes aren’t for everyone, and more suited for a smaller audience with very specific audial tastes. Just down below, you’ll find my personal favorite song from my very favorite of their albums, I Should Care from 2007’s Why Bother? Smash play, enjoy, and I’ve got a plethora of audio entries to submit into early-26’!
I’ve been listening to this group since the early 2000’s. If you happen to take the time and REALLY LISTEN to the overarching ideas and perceptions within their catalog, you too will discover plenty of scarily relatable thoughts from their clever and eclectic body of work.
