"Medjugorje", 8" × 10", Acrylic on panel, $225 Named for the town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a pilgrimage site, whether Virgin Mary was alleged to appear in 1981. A dear friend of mine described going there as a young man. He stood at the top of Apparition Hill asking the universe, "Why am I here?!", and then out of nowhere, experiencing a "waterfall of pure love" as if the mouth of God had opened up before him. This is from of my most recent series: acrylic on gilt-edge panel. I've been experimenting with thick and thin layers of acrylic, and how to keep each painting feeling fresh and spontaneous while maintaining tight control over the medium. Last year I started introducing patterns and more curvaceous shapes to contrast with my more direct paintstrokes. They may look casual, and have even been described as minimal in approach, but some of these paintings contain over 50 layers. This painting was created with a lot of metallic pigment and shimmers in the light. I'll be in my booth Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, and I'll have works for sale ranging from 8x10 panels to paintings on paper, all mounted and framed.
