"Ever bright, ever right"
Ever bright
I am thrilled actually for Wickander’s Deconstruction narrative, or possible Retrenching narrative. I’ve seen what Brennan can do with a deprogramming narrative and I’m VERY eager to see how this goes. Wick is so sincere right now! I fully believe he thinks he’s helping and is baffled how things could have possibly gone so wrong! I can’t WAIT to see what happens in his arc, ESPECIALLY since I REALLY think there’s no way he’s a Real Cleric with that 10 wis and 18 charisma. God I’m so excited
Campaign has got me HOOKED. And these 2 I adore soooo muchhhhh.
this is not part of a big conspiracy nor a seed of future betrayal, but I do think that Tyranny deliberately misled everyone, most of all Wicander, as to how endangered Wick made himself by saving Teor. You think House Halovar is going to KILL its golden boy, its shining heir who’s popular with the masses, for the crime of saving one stray rebel? On a night when his grandmother who loves him—and I do believe her insistence on that, I do believe her love is real, even if it’s entangled with house prestige & power, and using people as tools—on a night when she knows he’s very distressed and struggling with ethical revelations?
Nah. Wick is beloved, valuable, and lbr a very public face. His family wouldn’t kill him unless he, at minimum, OPENLY stood against them and decried them for frauds. If all he did was discreetly rescue one guy and then, say, let him loose and go back home and tell Granny Halovar that he couldn’t just let Teor DIE for his own mistake and he’s very confused because [Wick crying] because he doesn’t want to let down his family but he doesn’t like what they’ve been doing—
I think the worst-case scenario is she’d hug him and say, “Oh Wicky, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have put all of this on you. I’ll make it better.” Then she’d knock him out and cast some complex Modify Memory so he remembered nothing of the whole night, certainly not his grandfather in the basement, put him to bed, and send assassins after Teor and anyone found with him.
And she’d kill Tyranny, for utterly failing to keep Wick on his leash—because Tyranny is not beloved, is not particularly valuable, and could certainly vanish with no one (who matters) caring. (Except Wick, but Wick can always be lied to.)
Tyranny knows that she is disposable, after this little stunt. And she doesn’t want to leave Wick, the first person she’s met who believes that she can be good. So she says what she needs to in order to get him on the run with her. Everyone else agrees without question because, fundamentally, they have no idea that Wick’s family (or at least his matriarch, who matters most) genuinely loves him. In their experience, Tyranny is entirely correct that people who cross House Halovar end up dead.
I look forward to the Wick-Tyranny conflict, not to mention the messy drama with both their families, when this deception comes to light!
Wicander Halovar 🤍 Fan art of His Radiance Wicander Halovar from Critical Role campaign 4, character belongs to Sam Riegel. ____________ I have to keep talking about this, because if we won't, nobody else will. Just a few days ago, russians launched a large-scale aerial attack on Kyiv overnight (Nov. 13-14), launching hundreds of killer drones and missiles at the Ukrainian capital, killing at least seven people and injuring over 30. These drones are not like those used for wedding videography, they are massive and deadly, and they are specifically aiming them at people's homes in high rise apartment buildings. Houses were damaged in nearly every district, including my own. A never before seen amount of hypersonic and ballistic missiles were launched at just one city, those that are particularly hard (often near impossible) to interrupt. After living through another nightmare, I can't help but feel like the world has simply accepted our demise and choose to look away while Ukrainians are completely dehumanized and used as a meat shield, while being blamed for asking for help. There won't be a moral to this story today, morale is very low, our amazing engineers are trying their best to fix the electricity shortages, but blackouts are still a daily occurrence. I just hope we can somehow live through this upcoming winter. There is no end in sight though and it is devastating. But let me be clear, all of this is still nowhere near as bad as living under occupation, for those who even get to live.
