would you love yourself if you were a worm?
If I were a worm?
Darling, I am a worm. —Metaphorically speaking.
Would I love myself?
Of course. In fact, I might love myself more. A worm has no need for mirrors. A worm never lies about its shape. A worm doesn’t apologize for being small, slippery, and essential.
But make no mistake: I would still be exquisitely dressed.
Tariq Shakir.
Describe your character's voice. Do they speak with an accent? Are there certain words they use more often, or certain quirks to the way they talk (such as using filler words or mumbling)? Are they soft-spoken, or typically louder? Do they like the sound of their own voice, or is it something they try to avoid listening to when possible?
Zane is generally a very soft spoken person, more often than not reverting to the 'hospital voice' which is calming and caring. He does have a tendency to blather on, speaking fast and praying someone stops him when his mouth starts moving faster than his brain. It's easy for him to fall back on filler words as soon as he gets frazzled, trying to give his brain time to catch up (his favorite filler word is sorry). He does speak clearly and his voice does carry rather well despite him never really wanting it to. He does like the fact that his voice can instill ease with people but other than that, he's very neutral about the sound of his own voice.
What “old person” things do you do?
Oh jeez.
Well, okay, I have a bad back and it gets all achy sometimes so I do that thing where I stand and put my hand on my back to support it.
I also read the newspaper, complain about gas prices and had a hard time wrapping my brain around "nonbinary"; it wasn't a thing where I came from.
What's your worst habit?
Murder.
Smoking, probably.
[meta] What does your character’s name represent to them? Why as a player did you choose your character’s name?
[meta] To Mina, I think her name represents a gift, something that was given to her that she didn't really have a choice in but that she accepts all the same. Just because something is a gift, doesn't mean that it's always wanted, but Mina, for the most part, likes her name. I think she finds Wilhelmina to be too long and complicated, especially when she was younger and she had to write it out all the time, and I think that she might think that Mina sounds kind of whiny, especially when it's said in a mocking sort of way. But, as far as she knows, it was given to her by her dad, and she likes to think that means something.
For me, I chose the name Wilhelmina because I'm a sucker for Mina Murray from Dracula. Okay, that's not the only reason. I wanted Mina to have a long name, an unusual name, and a name that doesn't flow very easy off the tongue but that has a simple nickname. I wanted her to have those awkward first introductions of "My name is Wilhelmina, but you can just call me Mina! Mina's just fine!" because I think that interactions like that are sort of an integral part of her character, especially in the beginning when almost everything that she did was awkward and unsure and a little anxious. And, for the most part, it still is! But I think she's been growing into herself. I hope, at least, that she's been growing into herself.
Fitzroy was specifically chosen for it's meaning. Fitz meaning "son." Roy meaning "royalty." Fitzroy is the surname of children of kings or royalty that are born out of wedlock but still taken care of. They're a part of the family, but not, never to be heirs, though they can own titles, such as Henry Fitzroy, child of Henry VIII. For a little headcanon-y information that'll almost never actually come up, Fitzroy is a name that Mina's father took when he left his own family and set out on his own as a hunter for hire. His original surname was Braddock. But I chose Fitzroy before I ever decided any of that. I thought it suited Mina and represented her well.
[meta] What five items would be used in a summoning circle for your character?
[meta]
oh gosh I guess to summon Alex you'd need:
-Alex's favorite book series (this changes often so good luck) -Whiskey -A tailored suit -A blanket notebook with pen -His favorite weapon
[meta] What five items would be used in a summoning circle for your character?
[meta] I've been reading everyone elses answers and they're all so good ahhhh. I'm going to try my best on this
- Some sort of scribe book or like a kindle or something
- One of his hoodies that he always wears
- His bookbag (he takes that thing every where he goes - it is usually packed full with his laptop, whatever books he is reading/transcribing at the moment, the 'In case of emergency' kit that Athena made for him years ago, and snacks)
- Snack cakes
- Some sort of memorabilia from his closest friends (something from either Ariana or Milo. Or Winston- who Rio is definitely still hung up on in certain ways. I wish my brain could think of something more specific).
