Belated #WidowWednesday post! These are the first cosplay accessories I've made in a while, and I'm incredibly proud of them. 🥰 Behold, the original Avengers and Endgame Black Widow buckles!! I actually took progress pictures for once, so I'll break down my process! I designed the buckles to scale in Illustrator, printed them at actual size, and cut them out. Then I traced the primary pieces onto 5 mm foam and the secondary pieces onto 2 mm foam, and cut everything out with an Xacto knife. I realized that cutting out the red parts separately was going to be damn near impossible, so I decided to just paint the red on instead. I initially tried heating the foam pieces with a blow dryer to seal the pores before painting, but it had little to no effect. I ended up painting the pieces with a solid coat of craft sealant, let them dry, and the paint adhered much better! I applied 1-2 coats of acryllic to all. Finally I lined up the pieces and glued them together with rubber cement. My mom helped me construct a black cloth slip to go over my utility belt, as that's where I plan on wearing my Endgame buckle, and don't want it to be permanent. I reused my original waist belt for the 2012 Avengers version. We initially planned on sewing the foam buckles to the cloth, but the layered foam was too thick. Luckily we found some surprisingly sturdy and thin velco lying around, so we cut strips to size, and superglued them to the cloth and the buckles. The end result is technically removable, but that velco is crazy solid so I don't plan on messing with it. I know there are far more complex and accurate Widow belts out there, but I try to focus on comparing myself to my past self, and my own improvement. This is the most I've ever personally done with foam for a cosplay, so I'm really happy with how it turned out! At least one of these belts will be seeing a con floor at C2E2 in February! ❤️🖤 #marvel #mcu #blackwidow #blackwidowcosplay #marvelcosplay #mcucosplay #natasharomanoff #natasharomanoffcosplay #blackwidowbelt #cosplaywip #cosplayprogress #blackwidowcosplayer #blackwidowcosplaycommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/B3cqxYND0SI/?igshid=1lknjt3h698wc
