Brag about a creator or piece of whump you think is underrated
It says underrated, so I’m gonna pick some I don’t see mentioned so far.
For one, there is @whump-in-the-moonlight ‘s Curiosity Killed The Pirate.
This isn’t pure whump (so far, Fable just started having a Very Good Time :D) but a fantasy story with pain and angst. Which are the best, tbh.
Quill, a young man who was captured and treated like a slave by a crew of pirates who disguise themselves as fishermen, goes on a quest to defeat the evil lurking at the bottom of the ocean. With all the friends he meets along the way, will he be able to save the world and the people he loves? Or will he be too late?
This one is very new, but very 👀 so far. Merciless by @suspicious-whumping-egg
I do so have a thing for pirate whump.
Mateo is taken onto the ship of an enemy after catching the attention of the captain, for better or for worse. Pirate whump, intimate whump, enemies to lovers.
And Smoke, Salt and Asbestos by @quietly-by-myself.
Super cool world, that’s also used for another story. Super sweet protagonists.
Life for Keeper Silvanus was never normal. However, abnormal quickly changed to strange when a fae creature dropped dead at the doorstep of his ward, the Hall of Alchemists. Perplexed and caught in a web of politics and magic, Silvanus and his new fae creature friend, Briac, have to navigate an increasingly complex world to find their place with the scars of trauma, in current life and lives past.
Then there is @dont-touch-my-soup ‘s Unsung Heroes.
Oh, poor Kell. Kept as a slave, forced to perform, to entertain the very people who conquered his homeland.
Set in a war-torn fantasy world, where slavery is more or less used to get rid of political enemies – or basically everyone who acts up a little. It mostly follows the story of Kell, who is a talented singer. He makes a mistake that throws him at the mercy of the infamous General – equally feared by his enemies and his own people. Now Kell desperately tries to make the right choices to keep his people save and himself alive.
And! An Untitled Story (verkja, PLEASE. I hope you know you are officially worse with titles than me now <3) by @verkja.

Despite the generally dark tone of the story, it has a good deal of comfort and friendship alongside all the hurt, angst, and overall misery, and it will have a happy ending.
And oh boy is there a lot of hurt, angst and overall misery. Mures is a dark wizard, and as such he is very evil. Because what else would he be, a dark wizard has to be evil, right? How much self-loathing can you pack into one set of tattered, black robes? Spoiler: A lot.
