This weeks #SignedBookSundays theme is Unexpected - Our Chemical Hearts took me by surprise back in 2016 when I first read it. This was one of the very first ARCs I ever received so I treasure it! And I was even able to meet the author, Krystal Sutherland. She's so sweet. This a contemporary love story that felt realistic - and not everything was perfect. I also loved all the pop culture references in this book, I remember Game of Thrones and Harry Potter references. DID YOU KNOW Our Chemical Hearts is set to be a movie too!? It's true! It's going to be an Amazon movie. The last I heard about it, it is set to release Summer 2020. I can't find much more than that, but I remember the author posting about the filming so I'm looking forward to it and I'm going to have to reread the book beforehand! You may know Krystal Sutherland from her sophomore novel, A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares which I also loved! I'm looking forward to reading what she writes next. When the sequels don’t disappoint 😻😍 Are you familiar with that “syndrome”? The sequels syndrome? Hehe sadly a lot of times, seriously, more often than not I think it’s us readers that hype up a book so much that we are left with no one else to blame but ourselves when a sequel does not meet “our extremely high expectations” 😂😂 • • But this book certainly wasn’t one of those. @lainit is an expert at delivering extremely gorgeous worlds by way of fantastical storytelling.
