He was a reader, and the unsung expert on a long-lost city no one cared a thing about.” • It’s a rare treat to read a book that is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered before. I could go on and on about the impacts this story had on my fundamental understanding of craft. How the lyrical prose and intricate world building were but a few things that cemented this as a perfect five star read. But if I did then this post would be entirely too long.

Instead, when you go to pick this one up, I recommend knowing as little as possible and enjoying the dream. • E’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

So I believe I am safe to go ahead and post my unboxing of wildest dreams box! When I tell you I was not disappointed with this box I 110% mean it! I have always been a sucker for dreamy moody stuff and this box hit all those marks. A pair of illustrations done a little while ago for the Lumen Éditions release of Strange the Dreamer. Written by New York Times bestselling author Laini Taylor, Strange the Dreamer is an epic fantasy about a young librarian, a mythic lost city, and the half-human children of murdered gods. While ultimately the illustrations were used for promotional material rather than the cover artwork, it was still a joy to be a part of the French edition release. The audiobook was my soundtrack while painting Lazlo and Sarai, and I was mesmerised by the dark beauty of their world!

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around. Since he was a boy, Lazlo Strange has dreamed of the mythical city of Weep. A fortuitous opportunity allows Lazlo to join the hero Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors on their journey to search for the lost city. The answers Lazlo seeks await in Weep, but so do many more mysteries - including an unexpected bond with the blue-skinned goddess who visits Lazlo's dreams.

It was soo soothing working on this painting 😌 Sarai is one of my all time favourite characters and I loove painting blue skin for some reason 😄 This scene is not 100% faithful to the books as she didn't actually sleep on the balcony but you know, I was just envisioning her in that beautiful light.
