The Walking Dead | 1x05 - Wildfire
I’m jumping back into the whole digital art thing now that I have the summer to do things
Anyways, here are the Lannister siblings cast from their former glory
It's the strings. It's the damn strings. Sobbing.
Wildfires and why you don’t know what you’re talking about
Time for my 2 cents, and yes I’m aware you didn’t ask for it. But, this is my blog and if you don’t like it, well screw you.
First lets run down what the general public thinks is going on:
- Notley caused the fire - Notley isn’t doing enough - Trudeau sucks at his job - Trudeau should be on ground 0 helping - Notley and Trudeau are ruining Alberta by turning away help - Oh, and taxes are too high (this is important for a later point)
Now, lets look at what the general public actually knows about wildfires, fire management, managing a country or province and disaster relief protocol:
- Sweet fuck all
The general public knows next to knowing about what it takes to battle a wildfire. Telling Notley and Trudeau that they should be there helping is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. “Hey, send in the most unqualified people to battle the fire. That should work!” Trudeau and Notley are not wildfire experts. They are not fire fighters. They would be in the way, slowing down the crews who are doing their job. Or worse, getting someone killed. Trudeau and Notley are doing MORE than previous governments by supplying medical aid and pre-loaded debit cards to people effected. Do you’re research, don’t believe everything you see on facebook. Just cause it has a link doesn’t mean its real. Yes, Notley has not accepted help from Australia, Russia and other countries to fight the fire. this is because we have more than enough man power in Canada. “But why isn’t BC sending the Martian Mars to battle the fire!? Why has Notley not let Sask/ Ontario/ Manitoba send in help!?” - Probably because planes aren’t legally allowed to fly that close to a fire this size. there is to much smoke. The planes would be blind. and when you have 1 water bomber, you have 1 guide plane. And you MORONS want to send in not only the largest water bomber in Canada, but every other plane too. If every plane offered was up there flying, you’d have close to 200 planes. FLYING BLIND! which essentially means they would all DIE from crashing into each other. Or the ground. - Probably because someone has to pay for these planes. They are god damn expensive. I worked with water bombers for a summer. You’re basic water bomber/ land bomber costs anywhere from $10,000 up to $50,000 to make ONE trip in to the fire. To “put out” a fire this size using planes (especially planes from other districts/ countries) would cost more than any tax payer is willing to cover.
You want to pay 25% tax next year? Didn’t think so. So shut up.
There are more things to consider when battling a wildfire than “throw money at it”. Unless you have ever run a country or work as a wildfire manager, you should not be telling anyone what they are doing wrong in this situation. You should sit there and thank whatever gods you believe in (or don’t) that you aren’t being effects by this. that you have a roof over your head, etc. This is no longer a mater of putting out the wildfire. It’s disaster relief. It’s damage control. It’s trying to prevent the fire from growing further. And really, we can’t do shit. That fire is going to go where it pleases, when it pleases. Like I said. If you’re the general public, shut up. You know shit all. I know shit all. But I have enough common sense to know the people in charge are doing their jobs to the best of their ability.
* Side note: I pray for all the people effected by this fire. It’s a horrible thing and I wish you all the best on getting your homes and families back together after this horrible event**
