Will Sheehey, because the Big 10 basketball tourney starts this week, March Madness is just around the corner, Indiana's had a rough year and could use some support, and it will make my friend Heather very happy!

Fast Facts:

Both of his parents played college basketball. His uncle, Tom Sheehey, was drafted by the Boston Celtics.

He graduated from Sagemont in Weston, Fla. but chose to play college ball at IU because "it was the best combination of basketball, academics and social life." Sheehey turned down offers from Arizona State, Michigan and Georgia Tech.

He's a smart cookie, majoring in legal studies at Indiana.

Last year he was awarded Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year by the coaches. It was Indiana's first title for that award.

He has quite possibly the ugliest tattoo I've ever seen. But, truly ammmmazing arms for a white guy.

Hustle Key To Historic Night In Assembly Hall

There must have been something in the air Friday night when the Indiana Hoosiers took on the Samford Bulldogs at Assembly Hall. After a tough game against LIU-Brooklyn Tuesday night, the Hoosiers came out with fire and intensity early that propelled them to a 105-59 victory.

It was a career night for many players including Noah Vonleh who became the first Hoosier to start a season with back-to-back-to-back double-doubles. Hanner Mosquera-Perea topped his previous career-high with eight points, including a vicious putback dunk that will see time on SportsCenter’s Top 10. But the biggest performance of them all has to have come from sophomore point guard Yogi Ferrell. Number 11 recorded a career-high 26 points including knocking down five of seven three-point attempts. When asked about the night, Yogi just said he “took what the defense gave him”. This was a big step forward in his maturation as a player and leader of this team.

Before the game, coach Tom Crean made a speech asking for Hoosier Nation’s help in supporting his team’s effort. Every time a hustle play was made, he asked for the fans to cheer their team on. Crean’s message was heard loud and clear. Not only did the fans in attendance do their part by cheering the team on, but the players sacrificed their bodies by diving for loose balls and playing fundamental basketball for 40 minutes. After a close contest against LIU-Brooklyn, these young players needed this big victory to get some confidence back.

The tone was set early when freshman standout Noah Vonleh went up for a dunk attempt and came down hard on his side. After staying on the ground for a few moments, Vonleh was able to collect himself and walk to the free throw line as Indiana fans gave him a standing ovation. His determination pushed the Hoosiers to an 8-2 lead, and they never looked back.

In order for this team to be successful this year, they are going to have to play this way every game. Tom Crean will need to find a way to make his players understand that they are going to have to do the little things if they want to beat some of the stronger teams in the B1G.

The Hoosiers are athletic enough where they can cause match-up issues for any team. Their main concern is the fact that they are so young. With all six of their freshman expected to play big minutes, Crean will have to find a way to mentally make sure they are tough enough to face a team like Michigan State on the road.

By asking the crowd to get behind this team, Crean has shown he is trying to create an atmosphere in the locker room that embodies teamwork and trust. If the Hoosiers can learn to trust one another and take the game one possession at a time, they will be in great shape to compete for another Big Ten title. The main focus for them right now has to be to play fundamentally sound basketball.

After a stellar performance Friday night, it’ll be interesting to see what these young Hoosiers do on short rest as they take on Stony Brook in Bloomington on Sunday. It will be a great sign moving for if they are able to put together another strong performance.
