Imagine William Gallagher writing you a song

The sound of music was often flowing throughout your home. This was often by William learning something on guitar although there were occasions where records were being played over and over again. A life without music was unbearable for the two of you, in a way it was how you communicated with one another. On your first date the two of you had exchanged mixtapes not because it was agreed upon but because you each had wanted to present a gift, it was merely coincidence.

William tended to play covers around the house. There was something comforting about hearing him sing a song so familiar to you. Granted there was something comforting about hearing him sing in general. Recently though, he'd been playing something new. Notes had been fumbled around, chords strummed, strung together again and again until the right combination presented itself. You never questioned it, never let on that you had heard anything although you knew he probably assumed you had. You kept quiet, hoping that he would share.

You were reading on the couch when he approached with the guitar. No word needed to be spoken for you to understand what he was asking and you listened intently as he played. The chords were familiar as you recognized what he'd been working on. It was then that you understood what he had done, he had written it for you.
