William Vanderpuye looking over the script for some weird Oblivion rip-off called “Demon’s Souls”: 'Hmmm, so this Patches the Hyena character is essentially nothing more than comic relief? Well then, I suppose I’ll just have to play up the pathetic middle-aged scamp energy for this one, maybe give him a stupid little laugh too. Nyeheheheheheh! Yeah, that’ll be fine enough. It’s not like anyone’s gonna remember this thing anyway.'
Many Years Later
In the dead of night, William is roused from his slumber by the melody of the King’s Field 1 credits theme ringing from his cell phone’s minuscule speakers. Not his personal phone, of course. This one’s strictly for business. Letting out a long yawn, he rubs the sleep crust from his eyes as he turns over to the nightstand and flips the phone open.
It’s not a problem that he missed the call. He already knows what the incoming text messages will say even before reading them:
WAKE UP WILL
I NEED YOU TO VOICE PATCHES AGAIN
THE CHAUFFEUR SHALL ARRIVE 4 MINUTES AFTER READING THIS MESSAGE
A FINE ACTING JOB, TO YOU
Only seconds after could he hear the beeping of an Armored Core wrapped Rolls-Royce’s horn beckoning him from outside, ready to spirit him away to the recording booth. For once, Miyazaki is off in his time estimation; an error very much unlike him. Perhaps this one’s really going to be serious. Then again, that man’s always the most stressed during the beginning of these projects.
With a tired sigh, he lifts himself from the bed as he turns on the lights, washing his face before getting dressed. A new world is to be created, and thus, a new form of that bald prick must be given his voice to usher it all into a tangible form. Truly it is a power indistinguishable from that of a god.
Maybe this time they’ll even give him a pay raise too…
