Being a doug fan is so funny because I feel insane whenever I try to talk about it with people. Anyways, in a desperate attempt to make a friend or just talk at somebody about this show, do you happen to have any headcannons for my beloved idiots, the goons? Thank you in advance
i actually did have headcanons for the goons cuz they also used to be my favorite, i say “did” because i’m not as fixated on the show anymore and so i don’t think about these things regularly, i just draw fanart in passing from time to time, but i can share the ones i remember.
how they became friends with roger—
-boomer was roger’s friend first, they became friends because they were both outcasted and bonded over not being liked by the other kids. boomer was so desperate to keep a friend, his personality was solely based on whatever scheme roger wanted to pull, and he struggled with his identity internally for a while.
-willie joined the group next, he got picked on a lot for his buck teeth and body shape, when roger came to defend him (mainly for the excuse to attack some kids), willie became mesmerized by him and immediately idolized him and wanted to be friends. roger accepted of course, it was nice to have more than one friend, especially more than one follower who’d do whatever he said.
-ned was the last to join, not because he actually wanted to be their friends, but because roger started bothering him one day and he socked him in the stomach. it wasn’t super hard to shock roger, it wasn’t really that hard at all, but it did leave roger impressed since their group became one of the more intimidating gangs of bluffington school. roger then asks ned to join their squad so he could be the “muscle” of the group, as well as roger’s right hand man.
-ned said no, but roger started to pester him about it for like the next week and became so goddamn annoying ned felt pressured to say yes so he’d stop.
individually-
-boomer secretly likes magic the gathering. it’s a secret because he figured if roger knew he’d poke extreme fun at him (roger did not care when he later found out… in high school). he also loves dnd and is often the dm. he does play basketball in high school and is more open about it because it’s considered masculine and sporty, but he does end up just enjoying it for the game.
-willie is the closest to boomer in the friend group, and he does know about his nerd interests. he made fun of him for it at first until boomer socked him for it so he never made fun of it again and when he tried playing magic the gathering with him he actually did have some fun but was mostly confused and it never became his thing like it did for boomer, it was just something he did now and then with him. he often gets into the most trouble. he’s reckless and clumsy and gets too excited about causing havoc, he looks up to roger a lot in that regard but overdoes it.
-ned is kind of the more “voice of reason” type, but is often too lazy to hone in on it. he’s a chill, go with the flow, kinda guy, but sometimes roger gets on his nerves. he keeps it to himself because he can’t find a reason to make it a bigger deal than it is. he’s not super nonchalant, he has his moments of idiocy and distress like the rest of them, just more laidback. he also LOVES puns, but nobody else does, so he’s always like “ahh, whatever.” mumbling and disappointed. he does like the group, but he’s not one to express it all too much.
last few doodle pages before i go pass out lol.
old pixel art of these idiots.
its the boys..
On 28 March, 2012, 75-year-old Willie White from Detroit, Michigan, was in his home watching a basketball game on the TV at 1:00AM while his wife slept upstairs. Suddenly, he heard somebody attempting to break into his home. Fearing for not only his own life, but also his wife’s, who was recovering from two strokes and a heart attack, Willie grabbed his rifle. After a few strong kicks at his front door, the intruder was standing in the doorway and Willie shot at him, sending him to the ground, and making his accomplices flee. WIllie then called 911. When the police arrived they identified the victim as 18-year-old Bronco Mosley, who was armed with a gun, “Obviously, he had other intentions as well. Had he got in, there's no telling what he would have done to us,” said Willie. Bronco later died from his wounds while at the hospital. Wille expressed remorse that he had ended another life but he said he would “do it again” if he had to protect himself and his wife - "I regret it, but I didn't have any choice." The shooting was found to be justifiable.
gotta appreciate the goons! (aka willie, boomer and ned)
