Just finished watching dumplin, oh bo how I wish you were real.
Dumplin’ (2018) + “ten honest thoughts” by Mac Wilder (after Rachel Wiley’s “ten honest thoughts on being loved by a skinny boy”) (3/6)
[ID: 1: Bo’s hands on Will’s back while they kiss. Text reads: at 14, the first in a long line of skinny boys puts her arm around me so far that her palm lays beneath my belly button.
2: Will in her room after the kiss, touching her mouth in shock and awe. Text reads: and the axis of the earth shifts in size.
3: Will touching her back where Bo touched her. Text reads: last night, I wanted to ask about the first time someone treated him as though he wasn’t untouchable. end ID.]
“I want to be with you,” he says. “But I can’t if you won’t let me.” “Why?” I drop my bag in the driveway. “Why do you want to be with this?” I wave my arm up and down the length of my body. Immediately, I hate myself for this. The only person making this about my body is me. “Because I like you. I think I might feel a lot more than that for you, Willowdean. How is that so hard to believe? When I can’t fall asleep at night it’s not because of work or school or Amber or Bekah. It’s you. You’re the one that drives me crazy.”
favorite part about dumplin': you can tell from the moment he's introduced that Bo likes Willowdean, there's no revelation, nothing they go through together where he has this epiphany, he just straight up likes her from the exact second he is introduced
Willowdean Dickson, I think you’re beautiful. To hell with anyone else who’s ever made you feel less than that.
