Thinking about the stress the kiddads had to deal with somehow having to appease Willy, Bill, AND Barry while they're in Ravenloft. Those men all have wildly different expectations! Bill definitely didn't give a fuck about The Red Badge of Courage?
At least in Campaign 1, Barry seems like a more classical villain than Willy. Barry was like a dictator and the fantasy-equivalent of a mad scientist rolled into one, creating a small army of worshippers and artificially manufacturing the world around him. But for a story that’s explicitly about family relationships and generational trauma, toxic positivity doesn’t quite make the cut for Big Bad the way that Willy’s cruelty did even if initially his ambitions didn’t extend much further than wanting to live forever
I find it interesting that, after everything, Willy isn’t out and proud about how he tried to kill his son and rather considers it to be a close-guarded secret on par with his debilitating fear of water and his sexual dysfunction. Where does he place that secret on the scale between dangerous and humiliating? And is the secret that he tried or that he tried and failed?
Larry the science kid w Willy
Harlot Willy Stampler.. With your bastardly charm and *eyes drifting down* other things.....
Willy Stampler, canonically hot when he's older. Erin O'neal, still pretty when she's older. I see a pattern here.
